Poll: Which Best Picture Oscar Nominee Would Be Best and Worst On Broadway?

It'd almost be cheating to choose Elvis for the best musical because there have already been a couple of Elvis bio-musicals. I went with Tár.

Banshees is the pretty obvious choice for best play. Top Gun: Maverick would be the worst play. Avatar has already inspired a Cirque du Solei, so it being on stage isn't without unprecedent.

I only think that four might make good plays. Banshees as the most obvious one, plus Women Talking, Tar and Elvis.

I would say absolutely not for Avatar, All Quiet, Top Gun, and I cannot see a version of Triangle that would work on stage.

I can’t see EEAAO as a stage production, but that may reflect lack of imagination on my part. I think parts of The Fablemans could be a play: a play focused on the mother and her feeling unfulfilled and loving her husband’s best friend. There might be a stage play, maybe even a musical, in the story of a young boy who wants to make movies. It’s a stretch, though.

Banshees as it is was never a play. McDonagh has said he liked the title and kept that, but started completely new with a new story for the film.

I think a play of Tár at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center where she also conducts a live orchestra on stage could be riveting
