I know I've said this like three other times, but Concierge, if this list is accurate to nominations, I will die of happiness. I've never been so sure of five performances before. And - every single person on this list has never been nominated for a Tony. How magical would that be? A category comprised solely of fresh faces, essentially. Gosh, I hope, I hope, I hope.
I wonder who will take home the award if Spongebob wins for best score? Tom Kitt?
And yes. I agree. This might be an absolutely perfect list and I will definitely copy this.

I highly doubt this happens but in the rare chance it does, Kitt likely gives the speech, but anyone involved will now be considered a Tony winner.
Ashley Park has been nominated for an OCC, a Lucille Lortel, two Drama Desks, two Distinguished Performance Awards, and now she’s just been nominated for a Chita Rivera Award. If she’s not recognized by the Tonys come May 1st, I’d be in complete shock. This is her time.

I'm every bit as confused as you but some people are genuinely predicting that she gets nominated. It's pretty unfathomable to me, but the best I can figure is it's people trying to anticipate a Mike Faist-type situation where a small role gets rewarded based on the strength of the production.

Also, am I the only one looking at Jelani Alladin as a possibility for Best Featured Actor? Critics enjoyed his performance (he was talked about more than John Cariani), and he's been nominated for the Drama League and Drama Desk Awards.
There may be 4 original scores eligible and only 4 slots, but I can see Cursed Child snagging a spot away from something like Frozen or SpongeBob; Mean Girls and Band's Visit are locks of the 4, in my opinion. A voter may steer away from nominating a score with several dozen composers even though it's all original OR the fairly recent Disney one with *some* new original songs.

Cursed Child is ineligible, which means any votes cast for it would have to be thrown out. This isn't a write-in situation. Face it, both Spongebob and Frozen are getting nominated.

Wouldn't it have been mentioned in the rulings today that it is considered ineligible? Not that it means anything, but Adam Feldman clarified some people's questions, including this one, regarding the rulings today. Based on everything the committees have or have not said, it's eligible.

I don't know the details but I read that they announced via a private press representative that it would not be eligible.

I would be so much happier to see Kristen Sieh nominated from Band's Visit over Rachel Prather. (I predict neither will get the nod, for the record.)

It's time like these that I like to be reminded that Steven pasquale never got a tony nomination much less the award for his performance in Bridges of Madison county.
Awards for art might be the biggest oxymoron out there.
Anyone else notice that all the predictions for Featured Actor in a Musical are for lighthearted, charming, comedic performances? Meanwhile, Tony Yazbeck has been nominated for both the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle for Prince of Broadway, and he poured his heart out on that stage, leaving a far more lasting impression on me personally than literally any of the other predicted nominees.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with comedic performance getting nominated, but I think the fact that there are so many of them may give Yazbeck an advantage to edge one of them out. Plus, IMO I don't think any of the other contending performances are works of comedic genius (think Jennifer Simard in Disaster! or Josh Gad in Book of Mormon). Nor are they complete show-stoppers (like James Monroe Iglehart in Aladdin).
I'm calling it now: Yazbeck is getting a nomination! I'll eat my words if I'm wrong of course, but I'm sticking with that prediction until proven otherwise.
I really think people are overpredicting Acting noms for MEAN GIRLS. It will get one or two but really?
The Valley Girl "thing" is tired.
I think Best Actress in a Musical will be Ambrose, Kilgore, Lenk, Mueller, and Murin.
Supporting: Rigg, Fleming, Mendez, Miller, and the fifth is a toss-up, Salonga, One Mean Girl?
And I would not be surprised if Etai Benson sneaks into featured.
I would normally be the first to say the valley girl thing has been done but the entire ensemble of MEAN GIRLS is sensational. If I were a nominator, I would select three of the five supporting actress nominees from MG in a heartbeat.

I’m frankly surprised anyone is still predicting Renée Fleming getting nominated. All accounts of her performance were that she sang beautifully and didn’t do much else. I’m a crowded category like this one, that won’t be enough. Plus Lindsay Mendez pretty much owns the CAROUSEL vote.
As for MEAN GIRLS, I could see Park, Rockwell, and Weed all getting nominated, while the other two noms could go to Lindsay Mendez and Lea Salonga/Kenita Miller/Diana Rigg.
