My fiancee and I were watching the PBS American Musical dvd that I have and the segment on HAIR came on and my fiancee said, "Why does the "I" in HAIR have a infinity sign on it? I had no answer to give her, so I give the question to you guys and gals. Do you know why? Also, has anyone received their HAIR benefit cd yet? I ordered mine over a week ago and still haven't even gotten an e-mail saying they sent it out yet.

Doesn't really answer the question, sorry
I don't think any of the Hair CD's have shipped yet. Emails were sent out indicating they were *about* to be shipped, so it should be pretty soon.
I thought the infinity sign was just more "hippy-ish" than dotting the 'i'...

okay the infinity sign...im actually pretty sure this is correct. When Hair is performed one of the first things that happens is that the tribe(cast) pics a name. It's actually an important part of performing this amazingly little show. The infinity sign was the symbol of the original broadway cast and it has just stuck with the name since... they were not the infinity tribe mind you the sign was just a symbol representing them.
HAIR is probably the only Broadway show in history that had an official Astrologer, who picked the opening dates of each of the companies, etc. It was the Astrologer who suggested adding that symbol to the the HAIR logo. I suppose it was to channel fortune and good karma. Apparently, it worked.
I was once in a show where the director cast us by compatible star signs. We all hated each other and the show closed in two weeks.
