Edit *the video simply said it was an “impromptu performance,” I didn’t know it was for a cause of some sort

I was in the city last weekend and saw this. I wanted to love it but sadly was underwhelmed. Everything was average. Nothing special at all. I walked out of the theatre with nothing. Bummer.

Wow, this clip of "still" is beautiful

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I saw it last night, and after reading the overall reviews and the word of mouth on here, I was very pleasantly surprised. Idina was in strong voice, the rest of the cast was solid, and the projection design was stunning. The songs are more vibes than actual fully-realized numbers, but there were effective moments. Could use a trim here and there, but I’m happy I got to see it.

Just remembering you've had an "and" When you're back to "or" Makes the "or" mean more than it did before

1:55 runtime tonight, started at 7:05 and blackout at 9.

I was shocked at how much I liked this one. It has a strong enough message, most of the music is pretty solid, and Idina was in FANTASTIC voice this evening. I saw a few people around me shedding some tears towards the end.

This show takes a bit to find its footing, but once it does it's a smooth climb.

Tonight was John Hemphill's Finn debut — he was quite alright. A youthful hipster who takes to Jesse from the onset and understands her plight.

I thought Khaila Wilcoxon and Zachary Noah Piser both stole the show. I could even see Piser in particular potentially snagging a surprise Outer Critics Circle nom for featured actor in a musical (as there are some fine performances in DEAD OUTLAW and BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB that will not be in consideration).

I felt a bit dizzy in the beginning, but the projections and lighting design were fab. Stella gives Hwaboon a good run for the money with the plant rep this season. What a wonder she is.

But in the end it is mostly about Idina and she delivers, big-time. It's nice to have her back on Broadway.

Also, today was their last day fundraising for BC/EFA this spring. (Idina did the speech and implored the audience to "go climb a tree!".)

Well, I’ll be. That bird really did it.
