See, that's why we need music theory people, MrMusic. It sounded lower, but I thought maybe I was hallucinating. The original does go pretty high, though.

Adam's vocal range makes me happy. His lower register is gooooorgeous.

O no, it shouldn't be bad at all for Adam.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe they lowered it for Adam. Maybe they wanted it to be more soft and lilting rather than Adam trying to push the notes out, like it sounds in the OBCR. I relistened to Cary Shields sing the song with Karmine Alers and his verse almost sounds like a lullaby at first. So maybe that was the decision by the music director, they wanted to try something new for the song. I think it'll work really well.

That's possible, too. The original is kind of falsetto-y. He'll only sound like he's pushing if it's really belty stuff. I mean, Without You didn't sound all that forced, but you could be right.

... I love my (probable misuse) of vocal terms.

but DTBG2 where did all this Rosario is not a *HUGE STAR* business come from to begin with? i don't recall anyone here claiming that she was a *HUGE STAR*.

just sounds lik you don't care much for her at all to begin with, which is perfectly fine, you're entitled.

I was rereading some of Anthony Rapp's recaps, and he did mention Tim Weil at the piano, so I guess he's involved somehow. Good stuff.

yes Tim Weil is involved with the film's music. Rob Cavallo is the movie's soundtrack producer.

switching gears a bit here. has anyone ever heard tracie thoms sing? will she be able to hold her own up against idina when they duet on "take me or leave me"? i think it's going to be interesting how that song turns out.

I've actually been wondering that myself, but mostly everyone had been focusing on Rosario {I mean, she has to hold her own against ADAM!}.

yes Rosario does have to hold her own opposite Adam. hopefully she'll be fine. from what I've read of Anthony Rapp's comments he's stated their voices blended beautifully during rehearsals.

haha, well, I have two pictures with opposite sites of Rosario's chair just so happening to be in them. If I put them together, I have Rosario's chair!

Acting wise, holding your own with Adam isn't all that hard.... but vocally, you can sort of tell what'll sound good with his voice, in some cases. I think she'll blend very well with him.

just thinking of tracie...can she even sing? or act? I was looking up her on IMDB, never heard of ANYTHING she was in. But Idina and Anthony speak highly of her, so its all good

*praying that the voice blends of Adam and Rosario are amazing and will make me melt in the theater the 486486486848646 times I see RENT in theaters*

Yeah I want to hear more about Tracie. We've been hearing tons of talk about Rosario and as excited as I am to see her as Mimi, what about Tracie as Joanne? I'm really curious as to how she's doing in the role.
