The stage version is not R-rated
the stage version isn't R-rated, but it definitely has some controvertial material -- gay/lesbian people kissing (which i know some people have walked out after seeing that), drug issues, dildos, maureen mooning benny, etc. and we know how tough the FCC has been lately (cough JANET cough), so it probably will be rated R anyway.

Posted: 11/27/04 at 5:38pmI never said it doesn't have some issues which might cause controversy. I was simply commenting on people saying that it wouldn't be Rent without an R rating, which I don't think is true. The stage show, even with it's controversial issues, still does NOT have an advisory like Avenue Q or Cabaret did. All those things you listed, beka, could be found on most late night dramas on tv these days, on a regular basis. Also, the FCC has nothing to do with movie ratings. The FCC is an agency which regulates radio and tv.

I really like the Angel hospital scene. It adds a nice touch. I think that "Contact" could be worked in somehow. See, I think that Chris Columbus is trying to make "Rent" too literal, when in actuality, "Rent" is not necessarily realistic. Um, hello, "one MAGIC night" anyone? I think it can be done with "Contact" at least.

Posted: 11/27/04 at 11:06pmI just got back from seeing 'Christmas with the Kranks' with a screenplay written by CC, and I'm not sure whether I'm encouraged by the screenplay for that film or otherwise. One thing for sure: if Rent was a comedy, it'd be great lol

Posted: 11/27/04 at 11:26pmLOL fun stuff. i think since most of the original cast is in the movie they wont let him totally ruin it. i have faith in them! :)

Yeah, I just keep reminding myself about the OBC and that this is nowhere near the final draft, etc., etc. I really hope it works out in the end. It can if Chris Columbus just gives in a little more.
By the way, NTG, new icon, hooray for you, it looks good!

Thanks for the definition, although its a little disturbing lol anyway a lot of people aren't allowed to see the R movies (me for instance ^-^) but I'm allowed to see this cuz its originally a play, u know? Maybe there'll be like an exception... cuz u can see it even if you're too young if there's someone over 17 (or is it 1
with u...

ooh so if my mom or dad comes with me i can still see it?
is it true that if you get a parent signed permission thingy they'll let you in?
Cuz there is no way im gonna let age interfere with me seeing this movie!!
Rent rating#339
Posted: 11/28/04 at 10:21pmYah. They don't even have to be a parent, I think, just someone with ID, so if you have over 18 friends :) Ive never heard of the signed permisison thing but that would rock! I hope my mom doesn't have to come, that would be soo embarrassing! LOL

yeah that would suck if my mom had to come cuz shed be so shocked at the movie, but if the only way im gonna see this movie is to go with my mom I'm willing to make some sacrifices

I've seen rated R movies with my older brother all the time when I was younger. It shouldn't be a problem.

It's 10 years old, but worth a read.
