I heard that Carolee Carmello is talking to producers about playing Margret in the Light in the Piazza Tour.
I trust the source, but it seems very strange. It doesnt seem like Lestat will close in time.
Has anybody else heard anything about this?/Whats your opinion on the casting?
She seems less legit (and, for some reason, I keep secretly wishin Marin Mazzie would do this) than most Margarets they'd want but I like it.

I doubt she will tour with 2 young children at home. she'd be pretty terrific though.
I'm hoping for Patti Coenhour.
Carolee should be unemployed soon though....

I spoke to Patti. Touring seems very unlikely. She lives in Seattle and has spent a very long year and a half here in New York.
I adore Carolee Carmello! I'd love to see her take over the role on the tour.
Carolee is indeed a goddess, but she seems almost too young (or youthful looking) for this role.
hope this turns out to be true
Less legit? What does that mean? Carolee Carmello is one of the most "legit" performers out there. I've wanted her in this role from the start. I doubt it will happen though. I'd love to be wrong.
Have you seen Victoria Clark out of costume? She looks just as young as Carolee. Trust me. The costumes and makeup go a LONG way!
I have envisioned Carolee playing this role for a long time.
If Norbert (Tony winner) can do the "DRS" tour then why can't Victoria (Tony winner) do the "Piazza" tour?
If not her, Marin Mazzie for sure.
Because, Norbert (Tony Winner) isn't doing the "DRS" tour.
Because it's not always a question of being able to. It's wanting to tour with it as well.
Well that's news to me...shucks.
I understand about creative burnout but touring with "Piazza" would have to be an amazing thing, to sing those songs and go through that world every night would just be...ah!
"Less legit? What does that mean? Carolee Carmello is one of the most "legit" performers out there."
I think they meant like legit soprano.

Victoria has a young son - part of the reason she took off Tues/Wed - to spend more time with him. You want him to tour with him? I'm with Vicky on this. Smart choice.
I personally think Rebecca Luker would be wonderful in the role (even if she is a bit young...but again...costume and makeup would assist in that.)

Becky Luker's voice is stunning, but I don't see her suited for this.

This is certainly a role for La Swit.
I absolutely meant classically legit.
And you know I loves me some Carmello, Bobby, but she's really more a Broadway, sassy belter.

I didn't even think of Marin..she'd be AMAAAAAAAAZING! whoever said that, good choice.
some people, no matter what their "status", or home life situation will tour because its a role they really want to do. There are roles I have wanted and BEGGED to do for NO MONEY just because I wanted to do the role. IF the rumor is true about Carolee maybe its just a role that she is passionate about. Clearly, she is being underutilized in Lestat. She may welcome the challenge even if it means being away for a bit.

*cough*
I said Marin.
I've thought she'd be good for this the moment I saw it.
Rebecca Luker is in talks or already contracted for something headed to Broadway. I'm wondering if she might be Mrs. Banks....
I am still fuming about the Piazza tour being a reduced pay tour (experimental equity or whatever they're calling it). This show will be a huge hit on the road, especially in San Francisco and LA, and it disgusts me that they cannot pay full equity wages.
I wouldn't be surprised if they "minimize" the orchestra for the tour.
I believe it started with a minimal orchestra so it wouldn't be the end of the world.
