Rent Benefit Invitations

I didn't request an invitation until VERY recently because I didn't think there was a snowball's chance in hell that I could go, but the second I started feeling that I might be able to go, I requested one.

My question is that since there probably were SO many people who requested invitations (with probably no intention of going), if my RSVP goes out after the 24th, do you think they might still allow me to purchase a ticket if it hasn't sold out yet?

I would call the event coordinator and ask. Her name is Margi something-- name and number listed in small print and the end of the RSVP form.

alli2, aren't you the one who posted about volunteering at Friends in Deed? Couldn't they answer your question for you?

To the person who said they got email confirmation - could you say what that entailed, or PM or email me about it? I'm pretty sure I got tickets as they're showing up on my credit card, I'm just wondering whether I should let them know that I didn't get an email or if it isn't a big deal or whatnot.

Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

I called the NYTW today and Friday is the deadline to get your name in the program. You can buy tickets anytime though. Just to clear that up!

Thanks though, LeaGrl!

Does this benefit include the ENTIRE original cast, --meaning including ensemble members? Or does it only refer to the 8 principles?
And will it be concert style or is the benefit an actual show?

My invitation says that all 15 original cast members are scheduled to appear -- and it says "one time only concert performance" as well. So I'm guessing it will be similar to the 5 year reunion in that they'll just have a type of sing-through.

the ENTIRE cast will be there , all 15.and I would not be surprised that at any point of a sing(if it is a sing thru) thru they don't wind up acting out the show - i mean ...it's at the nederlander for cryin out loud- the set is right behind them on stage!!!! these guys couldn't contain their energy at Jonathan's memorial sing thru at the NYTW ...thank GOD and Jonathan Larson(it's not natural to be stoicly singing this kind of material)they won't be able to control themselves in a sing thru...and they should not have to. i highly doubt jonathan or his family would be offended by that in any way . they would probably love to see the show -done in entirety with no holds barred on any energy level - this event will be an extraordinary tribute to jonathan's spirit...filled with life and energy and lots of love -BRACE YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!

Alrighty.

To forewarn the kiddies.

I got my mail confirmation yesterday. If you are not 18 years old, you cannot come into the party without a responsible adult. I wish I had the letter with me so I could type it word for word... but I'm pretty sure the word "youngsters" was used...haha.

It also says they will mail your tickets to the party WITH your tickets to the show - so there will be two sets of tickets. And I think this finally answeres "moo with me's" question from back in this thread - no, as a 15 year old who has a single ticket to the show, she CAN'T go to the party without a guardian.

Well, at least that makes more sense than the people posting who said that you had to be at least 21 to get into the after party.

Do you think you'll get to go to the party if you get in via the lottery?

I saw a post in another community which said that someone contacted the woman whose name is on the invitations and inquired about the lotto folks. The answer was no, they do not get to go to the party.

I think it is because of liability issues. They are shuttling people at least to the party and they may have just worried about liability With the drinking thing, they can just request to see your i.d if they are unsure.

That is saad the lotto folks will not get to go to the party.

A little more info on the show... from Playbill.com today...

"Playbill.com has learned members of the current Broadway cast — as well as alumni of Broadway and touring companies — will participate in the celebration. How they may be incorporated into the performance is being kept under wraps.

Patrons can expect a modified (perhaps intermissionless) concert presentation of the groundbreaking show about artists and friends struggling with identity and romance in the East Village in the age of AIDS."

My partner and I are going. Its like this big thing for us because we met in the rent rush line in '99. Neither one of us got to see the obc, so its just gonna feel great, plus its our anniversary too so we're flying down from san fran and living it up in nyc for a week. I'm excited about the after party too tho, does anyone know if the dinner is complimentary? it says Dinner and Dancing on the invite, but i'm not sure.

i'm pretty sure the dinner is complimentary. i can't see them charging $1000 for tickets and then making you pay an extra $50 for dinner.

Interesting. I figured it wouldn't just be the OBC, because I know Darius de Haas will be there, and he was one of the original swings.
