I think they should have left it in. Rent is one of those musical, I think, that if done right could have been better than the stage version.(I could be wrong, I think this about a lot of modern musicals) Although it wasn't better I still liked the movie.
I am in the minority, in being that I really enjoyed the movie and I don't understand how people can love the show and completely hate the movie?!? I mean, it was almost an exact replica (with a few changes and things left out of course). Anyway, about the clip . . . I wish it was left it but what is done is done.

it was almost an exact replica
What stage production did you see?

Can anyone tell me if all these scenes will be added to the DVD. I hope they really go all out and put in all kinds of things into the DVD. Like rehersals and from the show and maybe some of Jonathan Larson. Really make it a nice package. Two DVDS or something. I would pay good money for it.
Double disc will have five deleted scenes, a documentary, and commentary.
I despise the singing dialogue in that clip (maybe it's the internet, but I think it comes off REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD!) but once it hits the "goodbye love" part that isn't dialogue, I like it a lot. (I generally liked the movie as well.)
I think they should have done all the Goodbye Love dialogue as spoken dialogue, kept just the "goodbye love" part, and friggin left it in.
I said "almost" not "exact." The problem with this movie and other musical/book/comic, etc. movies that comes out, is that we have in our heads what the movie should look like, and when it goes against that in any way, we say it was "horrible" and whatnot. I am not saying that it was the best movie ever created, because it wasn't. I am not saying that some things should have been added, deleted, etc. because I think it should have. But, after months of hearing the same arguments and comments . . . it is just getting old.

Yeah, but you said "almost an exact." Without them shooting the stage version with a camera and putting it on a screen, there is no way it would have been an exact replica. The "almost" implies that it was pretty darn close, and I just don't see how anyone could think that, regardless of their opinion of the movie.
People always say "it's the same argument," but I haven't really said much seen the movie came out. Occasionally a thread pops up in which I feel compelled to post. I mean no disrespect to any of the posters, nor do I feel I am being disrespected. If people discuss it rationally, I don't know why the debate shouldn't continue. It ain't goin' nowhere, anyway.
Ok, Kringas. Good points. The last couple of days we have argued about things and I think it is time to call a truce. Agree?

I agree completely that with the cuts made, Mark came off as one-dimensional and whiny. Benny was also a cartoon of what he was in the stage, and he didn't win any favorites from audience members then, either.
Does anyone else really hate the way Taye delivers the line "I'll pay." I don't know why- it just seemed wooden.

Keeping this scene in would definitely have helped with Roger transitioning to Santa Fe. In the end of the clip you see Mimi saying "goodbye" to Roger's car. Even though I am familiar w/ the stage show, when Roger is driving in "What you own", it just seems really random and out of place.
about the DVD, I heard that they initially tried to film "Contact", does anyone know if this is one of the deleted scenes?
