According to many posts on Facebook, Paul Ford has passed away. For anyone unfamiliar, he was a major pianist at auditions and in the pit for Sondheim shows, plus others.

Sorry to hear. He was a hell of a pianist and played such an important role in all of Sondheim's shows from the 80s onward.

I remember him being interviewed on those old Masterworks Broadway(?) podcast documentaries about Sondheim's shows.

I hope he had happiness in his later years…but that book of his just dripped venom!

It was quite the read, though!

Indeed. He had terrifyingly good taste-- maybe too good. Sometimes it's better not to. But living through the plague years, alcoholism and recovery, and the slow death of the Broadway musical can do things to a person.

He was a legend in his own right. RIP.

Sorry, but not everyone deserves to “RIP”.  Ford was one of the nastiest, most miserable SOBs to work on Broadway (and that’s saying something)!  If there’s an afterlife, hope he likes the heat!

You do have the option of just keeping certain opinions to yourself.

I never heard of Paul Ford but just did a web search and found this youtube interview discussing his memoir/book. I never read the book but it sounds like he spilled some of the tea? I guess back then they didn't make them sign NDAs.
