As for Iglesias, I don’t know if he’s much of an actor, but I’m sure he can sing the hell out of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s wonderful score
I always thought he had a weak and overproduced voice?

Iglesias would be a horrible choice for Che. Why can't they just pick a Broadway actor that isn't some pop star?
Because they want to keep the show open.
Let's weigh these options:
Marc Anthony has sort of a grungy attractiveness that would make up for Ricky Martin's somewhat clean-cut Che. I've never listened to his music much, but knowing he's accomplished in the style of salsa and Latin Pop, maybe he could bring a little more of a Spanish edge (since I found Ricky to be a little too English, only rolling th r's and other accents in nominal amounts).
Iglesias would be more in following the vein of Ricky Martin as a rather attractive Che missing a sort of seediness, but would probably sing the hell out of it.
Banderas is way too old at this point to pull off that of a younger-reading wave-of-the-future revolutionary. The only benefit I can see is that he would be a good link for people who were familiar with the movie before seeing the show.
Banderas is too old to pull off a "Fictional" character on stage?
I don't think any of those are bad ideas. At least they aren't gonna put in a Jonas.
And why isn't "Freaky Friday" a musical?
^ RIGHT?!?! I'd pay top price to see Patti running around stage like a 16 year old girl.
To hell with EVITA! I'm excited for Mary Rodgers' memoir!
Right? That sounds all kinds of brilliant. A great show for the Legally Blonde team.
aaaaaaaaand you ruined it. lol
Let's keep it a family affair with a score by Adam Guettel.

..... why would any of these (Besides maybe Iglesias) even consider this? Anthony/Banderas aren't on the Darren Criss/Nick Jonas level of desperation for fame.
Um, pretty sure they could both use an extra $100,000 a week.
Okay, so while "International Stage Star" Elena Roger can't really sing, she does look the part and act the part. Ricky Martin can't really sing the part he plays, either, but he doesn't look it or act it, unlike Ms. Roger.
Why not just revive AN EVENING WITH PATTI AND MANDY at the Marquis and have Ricky replace Jeremy Jordan in NEWSIES?
William Levy
Who's she?
Banderas might be too old, but he'd be the only one that could get me to see this trainwreck. I thought he was the saving grace of the film version.

LMAO. He is quite beautiful, but pimping his body out for votes on Dancing With The Stars got tiring week after week.
^Not to me.
And I suggested Enrique Iglesias ages ago. I don't think he'd be that great, but he'd certainly keep the show open.

They should just have Raul Esparza do it.It's really sad that Max can't take over the part because he isnt "famous" even though he is the best person for the job.
I like ricky as che but I get the feeling this revival is just becoming a Ricky Martin concert.I really feel bad for Elena because on top of all the negative reviews she is getting, she probally doesnt even feel like the star of the show, even though she works her ass off to deliver star quality to unappreciative audeicnes every night.
They might as well get Mariah Carey to replace Elena lol XD
The job is to 1. Perform the role and 2. Sell tickets. Max can't sell tickets, so he isn't the best person for the job.
How much would they have to pay LuPone to reprise Eva in a limited engagement :P?
Funny how they aren't discussing a Star for the Starring Role.
Martin is making Insane $ for Broadway.
That's why he's smiling thru all the Songs.
THE MONEY KEEPS ROLLING IN...
Just saw Enrique and Jennifer Lopez out here. I would definitely pay to return to Evita to see him!!
Getting a true "star" name (and by star I mean television or film star) for Eva would be a little hard considering the vocal range of the part...how many actual stars are there who could sell tickets, sing the role, and commit to a contract of a decent length?
