Probably none which is why it makes the most sense for them to cast a star as Che.
Exactly. I don't know how good any of these options would be, but it makes much more sense for them to pursue a star for Che than Eva.
This thread is depressing.

I don't think any of these men would replace. The show is a clunker...critics were divided but it did not get raves. The positive ones were kind to Ricky, but the negative ones hated the production. Unless they need the money, why would they be a replacement? Locals loathe this production and it is totally tourist driven. Ricky will have depleted most of the Latino audiences. The show is on TKTS at 50% at almost every performance. And I highly doubt Reidel's comment that it has a 10 million advance.....there are rows and rows of empty seats for future performances re Ticketmaster website. Jan. closing.

The only star who could sing Evita is Christina Aguilera.
Lord help us.

Aguilera couldn't handle singing that score six times a week though, she's had very minimal formal training and that would probably prove her downfall.

She probably would only do 6 shows a week; no matinees.

Thank you Mr. Midwest i already corrected the mistake. I wonder if she could even handle that for a significant amount of time.
If they pick anyone from that list I would say go with Anthony...his singing voice is truly a gift from God. He would sound glorious in this.

Everyone seem to feel bad for Elana because she got bad reviews..They rolled the dice when they picked a dancer with an average voice to give the lead of a very hard score to sing musical....they failed..She just isnt good enough and I believe she got mor of a pass than she really deserved ...she can not sing the score plain and simple...in something not as difficult she probably would be great because she moves well and is "likable"... I actually really like her when they interview her she seems like someone you want to know ...I wanted to love her but I didnt like her voice at all
Dice are rolling....the knives are out....
I like Riedel saying Ricky should be in Newsies & how he is smiling at people he thought were destroying his country.
I did enjoy Banderas in the movie and thought that he did a great job with the acting and also with the singing. And I would definitely plan a trip to NYC to see Marc Anthony in this. His singing voice is spectacular (more obvious in his salsa music which tends to have better lyrics and music than his english/pop stuff).
Banderas is the only one of the three who could possible do this on stage... if only because we saw what he can do with the role on film. And this Che is HIS version, not the Patinkin/Guevera version.
Banderas is the only one of these names that even relatively sticks out to me as being interesting. I envision Anthony and Iglesias giving extremely similar performances to Martin's. But who knows. I'd love to be proved wrong.
I have a feeling Martin will extend. Maybe 6 more months, maybe until August 2013?? who knows, but based on some interviews he's done, he loves his job.

Elena can Obviously sing the role..
I cant think of any hollywood actress/singer that has the voice and stamina to play eva..
Elena can Obviously sing the role.
I think that's a matter of opinion.

No, i would say it's fact. Does she sing it in a pleasant way? No. Does she hit every note like LuPone? No. Does she get on that stage every night and perform one of the hardest roles ever written for a female? yes Does she sing her part? Yes.
The night I was there, she certainly didn't hit every note. There were many, many, many instances where she literally couldn't get out words because her voice just couldn't do it.
Anyway, Banderas would get my butt in a seat. I've been saying that from the beginning.

Western did i say she would every note? No. No one could ever sing that role and hit every single note. Second, when you are singing a score in your fourth language then you complain about what words she can and can not get out.
Are people forgetting that critics also didn't like the original production or, for that matter, Patti LuPone in that production? This show has never been a critics' darling. The bad reviews aren't going to be the deciding factor in this show's life span, it's going to be whether or not they can find someone with the star power and audience of Ricky Martin to keep things going once he decides to leave.

Marc Anthony is so creepy-looking.
I agree that Marc Anthony is a bit frightening to look at. I honestly can't see him as a "Che". Someone mentioned Raul Esparza. I think he could do a good job. Come to think of it...I remember seeing an "Evita" tour show in Dallas...in 1998. I have the poster somewhere...with Raul listed as one of the cast members. So he does have that experience. from RC in Austin, Texas...(SOOOOO excited about seeing "Chicago" Sat. Aug. 18th in Dallas...with the fiercely fabulous Terra C. as "Velma." )
