Of course there will be a cast recording. And it will ROCK. Patience.
And if Charleston is right, this show will be an insane boozefest with crazy, outta control party people waving down hot waitresses in the aisles for more hootch in between KILLER 80'S ROCK ANTHEMS...
I, for one, cannot wait! May it all be true. And Classy. Check out the rehearsal footage on youtube...what was nothin' but a good time at New World Stages is gonna be a MONSTER HIT ON BROADWAY! Counting the days...and looking forward to the soundtrack on my ipod one day very soon...
i really don't think "broadway purists" or, yeah I'll say it... broadway snobs, give this show enough credit. if you REALLY choose to pay attention to what they are doing up there (and they do it telling you flat out this ain't Shakespeare) I think you will see that there is something clever in the execution... far more clever than Shrek, or even Mamma Mia (which is it's closest cousin on bway). it is fun and silly... and that's all it ever wants to be! It's not trying to be Rent and I applaud them for crafting a story that works WITH the music they chose rather than AGAINST it like so many lame, failed jukebox musicals. Not only that, it crosses over to a mainstream audience in a way no other show opening on broadway is... AND is able to do it without pandering or being cheesy (like all those disney shows). if THAT smells like a bomb then I don't know what one is. My prediction... The only thing that could kill this show is the economy. It ain't gonna be the mass public's strong desire to see "Next To Normal" or that re-staging of [tos] that THEIR idiot fans keep crying for.
I never said Disney deserved a broadway theatre. And I really don't understand how this is THEATRE. The way they advertise it just makes it seem like a bunch of annoying 80's rock fans at a concert. Half of them probably don't even know they're seeing a broadway show.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
The boozefest is the precise thing that makes me wary of this. THAT makes the whole thing (in spite of the positive buzz) less desirable.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I sure hope you've seen the show, because if not, you don't know the first thing you're talking about. There's nothing worse than someone criticizing a show (or anything for that matter) that they haven't seen.
I haven't seen the show. However, I'm talking about the way they ADVERTISE the show. The clips and previews I've seen make it look like a wild concert that shouldn't be on broadway.

And what makes you 100 percent positive that it will be a MONSTER HIT. Just because it was successful off Broadway doesn't make it automatically a hit on Broadway. There are tons of other new shows it has to compete with.

Jane2- It's my opinion. Not everyone has to love this show you know.

I don't like the show based on what I've seen...lots of press clips and rehearsel videos. All I am saying the way they advertise doesn't make ME want to run out and buy tickets.

OK, fair enough. I don't expect you to remember any posts I've made in the past, but since day one I have maintained and argued that a person's opinion must never be criticized. We can never, ever, tell someone that their opinion is wrong, or ignorant, or crazy, etc.
If you see the show, you are entitled to make any remarks about it you wish. *That* would be an opinion.
"The clips and previews I've seen make it look like a wild concert that shouldn't be on broadway."
OMG! Some of what I read here is so over-the-top pathetic, I find it hard to believe a lot of posters ever leave their houses.
If this is as wild as life gets for you maybe it's time to get out a little more. It's a FREAKIN' MUSICAL, you freaks!!
And if you haven't seen a show, why keep going into all the threads about it?
Beejeesus!! It's the Anti-Shill!! It's The Dream Killer!! It's He-She Who Shall Not Have a Good Time nor Allow Anyone else to even talk about having a good time as it would throw their negative life order out of whack!!
Say a prayer for me y'all! I'm goin' in! There will be singin', booty shakin', ass-slappin', dancin' and wailin' guitars! Send a priest!
He's allowed to have an opinion based on what he's seen....he's being honest that from the clips that he has been exposed to he has little desire to see more. THAT is a valid opinion.
MIGHT he feel differently if he forced himself to see the show? Maybe...but if he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to.

Jackass? Using "Not." to make a point? Hysterical. You've accused me of being a "paid by the word" schiller before. God, I wish. I'd make a fortune. Hooray for people like starlight4 who have a brain and a sense of humor.
I've seen the show a million times. I love it. That's why these boards exist, right? I saw it in LA. I saw it in Vegas. And I saw it at the New World Stages. NOW IT'S MOVING TO FRIGGIN' BROADWAY AND NO ONE IS GOING TO RUIN THIS DO YOU HEAR ME!?!?!?
So go stand in line at tkts and get yourself a ticket to some lofty drama and then go bitch about it. DREAM KILLER!
You ROA fans are out of control. I don't even want to know what you're like with all the tequila and hard liquor at the show!
