Posted: 3/20/13 at 4:17pmI wouldn't say Tim Curry despises it, he's just moved on. He has appeared at midnight screenings of the film in the past. I'm sure he just chooses not to go back to it because he doesn't want that to be his entire legacy. Much like Mark Hamill is with Star Wars.

Why would you write something so rude to someone?
Darling, you don't understand. Only a relationship as long as ours would merit such a response.

Posted: 3/20/13 at 4:48pmAs per the film - I know that Tim, Susan and Barry have moved on from Rocky also decades ago and don't love talking about it. I can't answer for Pat, Nell or Richard though. probably Meatloaf would be more agreeable to talk about it than the rest of the US cast.

I think a one-night concert would be a better fit than a full blown revival. In that case I'd do something like this:
Frank: John Barrowman
Brad: Neil Patrick Harris
Janet: Anna Kendrick
Riff Raff: Norbert Leo Butz
Magenta: Megan Hilty
Columbia: Lena Dunham
Narrator: Alec Baldwin
Rocky Horror: Ryan Gosling

Especially Susan. One of my friends here at school is actually her nephew, and he said that she essentially refuses to talk about this movie.

Not when he can bask in the successes of his turn as Mr. French in the beloved Family Affair revival and of course the McHale's Navy movie.

Don't forget Clue, Annie, and Home Alone 2.
And of course this character:

Posted: 3/20/13 at 8:16pmNot particularly. There is nothing about Jackman that would lead me to believe he is the perverse, sexually androgynous "sweet transvestite" living a life devoted to hedonism.

No, I disagree.
And he's no slouch in the tight loop which is the voiceover business.

Posted: 3/20/13 at 8:58pmWhat about his performance in the boy from Oz? I know they're both completely different roles, but they do have things in common. If you combine his provocative, flamboyant, and over the top portrayal of Peter with his more Androgenous, macho types of roles (Australia, X-men) you get the perfect Frank! I don't why, for some unusual reason, I just see him as that character.

You know, I never realized that for such a respected actor, Tim Curry hasn't really been in anything incredibly respectable. Well nothing I can think of off the top of my head. Even though I thought his performance as Pennywise was amazing, even though they pretty much took an ax to King's novel (my favorite book at the present moment).
Anyway, back to the present topic. I think Adam Chanler-Berat would be literally the perfect choice for Brad.
Also, is there ever any hope that I could ever hear Patti LuPone belt Science Fiction/Double Feature? What's that? No hope for that whatsoever? Well, a boy can dream...

Posted: 3/20/13 at 9:07pmHe's not really that respected. He is beloved by all of us who went through our Rocky Horror phases, but in his subsequent work (all of it flops) he was always far too broad and hammy. Except, of course, in the beloved Family Affair revival and McHale's Navy, which acting scholars revere.

Posted: 3/20/13 at 9:09pmIt sort I surprises me that Curry hasn't played the role again. He doesn't seem to work all that often and I'd just assume Frank would be his Dolly.

Posted: 3/20/13 at 9:10pmI loved him in Home Alone 2. He was perfect for that character with his sly little charming sarcastic wit.

I almost forgot about this one:
And though we don't see him on screen (big or small) a lot, take a look at his IMDB page and you'll realize that he works quite a lot.

Posted: 3/20/13 at 9:15pmI'm sure he has made a handsome living. But scroll through all of that dreck and you realize, Mr. Curry should really talk to anybody who wants to talk to him about Rocky Horror.

"Personal attacks are meaningless. Anyone can hide behind a screen name and throw mud online, so take that crap somewhere else."
It wasn't a personal attack at all, just an observation. And I don't hide behind anything. The people who matter know exactly who I am and would say that I would say the same thing to your face.
I won't go into explains why I wrote what I did, because others have already pointed out what's wrong with setting the show in the 80s, but I thought that was kind of obvious.

I thought Tim Curry was good on Monk.
And I'd like to see Meat Loaf again as Eddie.
As an aside: A friend of mine once wrote a story about Meat Loaf for a newspaper with a style that uses "Mr." or "Ms." instead of calling someone by his/her last name.
And yep, she called him Mr. Loaf.

He could never ever play Frank again. Poor Tim, he was hot back then. After that, I'm afraid it was a slow and continuous journey into character- actorville.
I think he's pretty specific as a character, and hence he is cast in random character roles. yes, he's one of those actors who work a lot, but not as the lead.
