Interesting...I really do love what she's done for the theatre community since her arrival on The View, and I wouldn't mind seeing what she'd do with the role; though I really loved Jenny Galloway. USA Today reports that she may be in the works for a new talk-show in the fall of '08 which could possibly mean more exposure for Broadway...I'm excited to see what the future holds for her.
Cheers,
Christopher

Posted: 4/26/07 at 3:06pmI'm sure Ann Harada just loves being the nameless "another actress."

Posted: 4/26/07 at 3:06pmThe world is her oyster at this point. If she can have her own show, done her own way, about the topics she chooses, why would she ever stay on The View? Plus, it would mean much more B-way exposure which I am all for.

Apparantly she has been offered the part twice before and turned it down because she didn't think she could do it justice vocally. If this is true I wonder what made her change her mind.
If you watch the castcom of when PQ was on THE VIEW you'll see Boublil saying that he hoped one day she'd join Les Miserables and even "speak the part" cause they like her that much... or something like that, I'm paraphrasing.
For those who didn't watch the castcom, he also said that Rosie told him Les Mis defined her moral compass as a child. I can only imagine how great it would be for her to be a part of that.

Is she really getting her own show? That's not how it sounded yesterday on the show.

"Apparantly she has been offered the part twice before and turned it down because she didn't think she could do it justice vocally. If this is true I wonder what made her change her mind."
I have actually heard quite the opposite. When the performers on board her cruise did "One Day More" with her as Madame Thenardier, she said it was a like a dream fulfilled for her because she'd always wanted the role but was never able to even be seen for it because the producers felt she couldn't possibly sing it. That goes along with her saying she'll be joining the cast "if I can do [the song.]"
This rumor leaked out on All That Chat a few days ago. If it comes to fruition, I think she could be a nice addition to the cast. It's about time she finally ended up doing it (though I still think she should get her own show again.)
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 4/26/07 at 3:39pmI guess when I said the world is her oyster, I meant that she could have her own show if she liked-whether or not she chooses to or wants to is another story. LOGO, Lifetime, and Bravo had all wanted her to do shows for them at various points over the past two years.

Going to see the show in July and hope to see her in it but I won't hold my breath...

Posted: 4/26/07 at 3:53pmI wouldn't mind seeing her in Les Mis. However, if she does take on the role, I would hope to see Mme. Thenardier on the stage and not Rosie O'Donnell in a costume. She needs to act and not just play herself.

Posted: 4/26/07 at 4:00pmNO! She'll keep that theatre packed for another 3 years! I want to see Cameron and his band of French peasants kicked out on their ass due to low sales.

Posted: 4/26/07 at 5:21pmWhy is everyone acting like Madame Thénardier is some major vocal part? She doesn't even have her own song. She just has bits and pieces of songs and even then actresses that have played the role in the past have gotten by just fine screaming and hollering and not providing any singing at all...

Posted: 4/26/07 at 5:52pmIf she goes into it, she will be singing Master of The House.

Posted: 4/26/07 at 6:15pmBefore Les Mis returned to Broadway, didn't Rosie want to be a part of the cast but Mackintosh turned her down? Now the rumor is that SHE turned it down? I remember reading a poem about Les Mis gig on Rosie's site and it seems she really wanted to be cast.

Rosie, don't take a job away from the brilliant Ann Harada!
I adore Rosie, really, but we've had three opportunities now to find out just how much she cannot sing. Do we really need a fourth?
Cast her in a play! That would be wonderful.

I hope Rosie does this! She would be great as that character! I am by no means a Les Miz fan. I have never seen the show or heard the whole score, but I have seen the "Master of the House" scene performed by Gary Beach on You Tube and I loved it. I'll take Rosie in anything.
Watch me get bashed for saying this. lol.
