The news of the cast album was revealed in a series of Instagram stories posted by members of the company of Shucked! Shucked is the new Broadway musical comedy, featuring a book by Tony Award® winner Robert Horn, a score by the Nashville songwriting team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, who collectively have earned three Grammy Awards® and 18 Grammy nominations, and direction by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien. That's fun news, but I don't see this reported anywhere else. I know I have seen some videos that the show has released of actors performing some of the songs, but those look like simple promo recording sessions rather than an actual cast recording session.
This is going to be an interesting one. It’s such a ballad heavy show with pretty much everything that makes the show worth seeing, being in the book (save for a song or two). Not sure how this one will play on disc for people who haven’t seen the show.
Releases May 5 on digital platforms, and June 9 physically!
First listen of Alex Newell (Lulu) performing "Independently Owned":
^ They were smart to release that song. It is truly the best song in the show.

Coincidently, this description also describes The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I think there are 3 songs in the show that will make this a good buy: "Windows/Walls", "Somebody Will", and the rouser, "Independently Owned and Operated".
"Windows" is a message number, and has a good contemporary vibe. "Somebody Will" is a country roller with a Garth Brooks feel. "Independently" is all Broadway puncher.
I'm looking forward to the drop!
Brandy & Shane deserve kudos for parachuting onto Broadway with some fun numbers that advance the plot and/or flesh out characters, while also crafting a few punch numbers.
We have a-maize-ing news… the next song from the Shucked Musical is out now!
Run, don’t walk to your streaming service to listen to “Somebody Will” performed by Andrew Durand. Listen at the link below!

Caroline Innerbichler (Maizy) and the company performing “Maybe Love”:
The songs are the best part of this cheesy/corny (haha) but loveable show so I'm really looking forward to this.
Hope everyone’s all ears, digital release is tomorrow!
It's out now! Who's listening?

I'm pretty pleasantly surprised that they kept Peanut's pre-show announcement as part of the overture, it's a nice way of paying homage to some of the book
This album is pure cornography.

The score really is quite great, it gets overshadowed by the book a little in the show, and the songs aren't quite as funny or clever, but there's still some great moments with some fantastic melodies and the performances are all great. Corn Mix is a particularly fun song with the mix of reprises and jokes. I will definitely be listening to this a lot in the future.
Awww some of these songs are cute. I'm not sure the opening number 'Corn' on disc would ever convince me to see the show, but some of the other songs have.
I thought this sounded okay live, but holy shuck this is good on recording.
A nice boost of country-pop goodness with some theatrical flair - not what I thought I needed today, but Shucked offers it in droves and then some.
Clark and McAnally’s melodies are never boring, and Jason Howland did an outstanding job with the orchestrations. The entire cast shines.
It’s got the juice!
I mean I know Some Like It Hot and Kimberly Akimbo are widely considered the front runners but Shucked for best score? Just me?
It doesn't pop off on the recording quite like it does in the theatre (in my opinion), but it's still a tuneful score and definitely hilarious.
I will say that the way there isn't a listed "artist" for some of the songs on the iTunes version is annoying me from an organizational standpoint.

I am loving the cast recording!
Seeing Shucked blind before the cast recording, there are so many gems on the second listen. Independently Owned of course shines, but Andrew Durand also sounds so great in Ok and Somebody Will. Maybe Love reprise is so cute too.

I'm fully in support of a Best Original Score win for Shucked!

Preaching to the choir, but I hope shucked wins something on Tony night. It feels a little like a repeat of 2018 of the Prom vs the Band's Visit again (Shucked being the Prom in my comparison). Perhaps Alex Newell has the best chance, though Justin Cooley was admittedly excellent as well.
