saw SA last night for the 3rd time. it seems to get better with every viewing. last night Krysta Rodriguez was on for "Ilse" and this girl was amazing. she definitely has star quality. couldn't take my eyes off of her. simply mesmerizing. also saw that she is a "Wendla" understudy. does anyone know if she has ever gone on for that role? i would love to see her do it.

Krysta is amazing. She is easily my favorite cast member. She has not gone on for Wendla yet because Lea has not missed a show yet from what I know of. Phoebe is her first cover though, but maybe one day Krysta will be able to go on for her. I'm so glad that you got to see her as Isle.
Is Lauren Pritchard out often? It seems as if every other review I read mentions Krysta going on as Ilse.
i have to agree with you. she gave my fave female performance last night in the show. a friend told me that she had gone on for "Thea" the night before. what a valuable asset she is to the show.

she definitely is good, and very natural. i'm not too crazy about the character who plays thea regularly.
Lauren is the dance captain so I know she periodically has to watch the show from the audience, hence she's out often to keep up with her dance captain duties.

Nice to have a face to place with the name. Krysta is adorable, what a catch for SA to get her.

I saw Krysta as Ilse too! she's AMAZING :) actually, for a little while I almost loved her voice even more than Lauren's. It's sooo smooth and beautiful. Since then I've kinda come to absolutely ADORE Lauren's husky sound, but Krysta is still all kinds of wonderful :P she's super nice too! but, you know, I'm not surprised since she's part of the nicest cast ever *g*
Saw the show last night, as well. Bill Condon and marty Richards were in the audience. Thought the show was great. There was also a girl, I forget who, who played Thea last night. She was very good vocally though seemed a little lost sometimes. Krysta was great as Ilse, though. I wish the role gave her more to do.

i've only seen remy zaken as thea. very stiff. maybe she knows somebody. the play rocks though.
brainpolice23, I could not disagree more. I think Remy is great as Thea. Exactly what don't you like? She has a great voice, she is very confortable on stage and she is so darn cute! I mean her part is small and I think she handles it very well what more could you want?

awww, I thought Remy was ADORABLE I mean, I dont really see how anyone could NOT like her- she's so cute and little! lol, no, I'm just kidding, you're completely entitled to not like her of course. I just thought she was great. It's a smaller role, but "melchi gabore. he's such a RADICAL!!" continues to be one of my fav lines of the whole show hehe

i think her voice is pretty decent. idk. she just doesn't seem to be as fluid with her movement as other people in the show...which may be what the director intended. it's a small role, so it doesn't in any way hinder the show.

that's actually something that's very exiting to me- I always wished that I'd been able to have known the RENT cast from all the way back in the RENT days. It would have been so cool to have followed their careers since the very beginning instead of picking up years down the line. With the SA cast, I love being a part of the group that will get the chance to follow their whole careers
Jennifer Damiano was on for Remy Zaken. I heard she did okay but flubbed a few lines.

I checked my slips, and yes Krysta was on for Ilse and Jennifer was on for Thea. Krysta was, again, quite good even though she had a total of about 10 minutes of stage time. Jennifer was alright, she did flub some lines but that wasn't what turned me off about her performance. It was that she didn't have any character choices. She had a pleasant voice but she seemed to be squinting the entire time and took a lot of her cues off of the girl playing Anna.

^pheobe!! (plays anna, hehe sorry, I lurve her).
yeah, I mean its totally understandable if Jenn's not totally comfortable yet- she's only 15! thats like, what, freshman in highscool? she's got pleenty of time to improve :)
