What a shame. Your presence will be missed by all, toots."
Is there a reason why you're such a hateful, sh*tty person?"
I dunno...I guess maybe some of you people (present company included) just bring out the best in me?
Have a blessed day, doll.

I still think it is going to be a great closing performance and wouldn't miss it."
I'm sure it'll be fun, but I was already disappointed that David Thaxton wouldn't be there. In my opinion, Tom is as essential to the production as Nicole (more so, if I'm being honest), so I'd rather see it for the final time when he's still there.
JSquared2 said: "DrMonicaDeMoneco said: "east side story said: "Tom is admittedly navigating some vocal issues it seems, so previous engagement or not, it may be best that he departs before the production closes to protect his instrument. Seeing the show a third and final time this week, and I would love to see Tom again but having seen him twice, I wouldn’t hate seeing Pierre.
I do believe that Tom is just as impactful here as Scherzinger, and wish he had won the Tony, but alas. A very talented man, and I wish him well."
Impactful… ok… I can believe that. However, let’s not kid ourselves. Vocal issues is the reason he’s leaving? Girl, please. He held out until right after the Tony’s to announce he’s leaving the show. He got nominated, didn’t win, and he’s leaving."
Oh, the sheer stupidity of what you have presented is astonishing. Maybe you should write children's' books?
As other have pointed out:

That. Was. Rude! Hahahahahahahaaa

''He's finishing out his contract and leaving to do a film he has signed on to. This isn't about a Tony LMAO.''
More than one thing can be true: that Francis booked a film, and he's leaving when ''Sunset'' was originally set to close. BUT ... Francis (and/or his PR team) chose NOT to reveal his departure date (July 6) from ''Sunset'' until AFTER the Tonys. I bet that's no accident. They probably didn't want it to affect the reasoning of any Tony voters who might question his dedication to theater or think: ''Well, I'm gonna vote for someone else; Francis is leaving Broadway soon anyway.''

YES, this above !! What you write makes so much sense. More than one thing can be true!!!! People forget this all the time!

Except that DrMonicaDeMonico specifically made it sound like he was leaving because he didn't win:
"However, let’s not kid ourselves. Vocal issues is the reason he’s leaving? Girl, please. He held out until right after the Tony’s to announce he’s leaving the show. He got nominated, didn’t win, and he’s leaving."
Waiting until after the Tonys to announce a departure that was forseeable for several months is one thing. But if that's the case, whether he won or not is irrelevant since he would have been leaving anyway.
Ummm isn't it the production's call to announce when a departure would take place? Why is all of this coming down on Tom like he was scheming? Seems like the it's more on Producers trying to suck out every last dollar. Its not on the cast to play for them to make it seem like that's not what its about.

Exactly.
David Thaxton's exit was also announced less than two weeks before his final show, and he wasn't nominated, so the Tonys had nothing to do with it. The production is making these calls.

How exactly do you figure the producers are profiting and "sucking out every last dollar" by holding an announcement until 2 weeks prior?
Am I the only one who doesn't think these are conspiracies? Life happens, the show has had a limited run/engagement ending in July for some time. People need to make decisions and choices for life after Sunset. Doesn't seem to be that big a deal to me

Only one person here thinks he was scheming and since then have never even bothered to acknowledge what they said is bogus.
But then again I guess if you also start a name thread about having a "death watch" for what show is going to close next what can you expect?

By delaying people who wanted to see the show again with him not buying tickets for the extension. Like he didn't win, but he was brought over with the show. They clearly think that he's a draw. I'm talking about more the extention in general when 3 out of 5 leads couldn't stay to finish it out.

Huh?? So you're now saying that by "delaying people who wanted to see there show again with him not buying tickets for the extension, the producers are somehow shadily profiting?? Please explain how that works??

Hold my hand here, if people who wanted to see him during the extension knew he would not be there... then they wouldn't buy tickets. Now that they have tickets, are they really going to go through the hassle of a refund or just begrudgingly go see it? Probably the latter.
And yes, every producer is shady and attempts to profit in shady means. There are no altruistic producers.

I imagine these calls are made among the artists, the production team and the publicists. They have to consult one another and agree. Assuming Thaxton had a prior professional commitment before he had to leave ''Sunset,'' I'm sure it's no accident that his June 8 departure date wasn't announced BEFORE the Tony nominations were revealed. If you think things like this don't matter, especially during Tony season, I have a bridge to sell in Brooklyn ...
Ever since they extended by a week and moved existing ticketholders for the "final performance" from July 13 to July 20, the July 13 ticketing page has been automatically redirecting to the July 20 page. Anyone care to speculate as to why? Do we think there simply won't be a performance on July 13 (which seems odd), or might something else happen on that Sunday...maybe film it? Just thinking out loud.
I wonder if it an error on the website - I see it too but if you go direct to the ticketing site and click July 13th it works just fine.
Also, FYI apparently ALW said unlikely to come back to the West End (we could also mean no filming). So could be the final weeks of Sunset Boulevard. Nicole is going out with a bang though, the grosses are insane!

This literally just changed this afternoon! I've been checking the actual St James Theatre ticketing site regularly since they announced the extension, and just now it went to July 13 for the first time.
For a 3pm performance, can anyone tell what time act two will start? I'd like to see the title song from the street just once before the run ends.

Act two generally starts ~90 minutes after curtain. I’d say get there at 4:30.
Saw this again last Saturday, and still the best show in town.

Thank you!
Saw he did the walk last night in just a tank t-shirt because of the crazy heat in the city. Now that is a show in itself!

I know this is scheduled to close, and there haven't been any official announcements about what is "next" with it, if anything.
Is there absolutely no way this show could tour, do they not want to do that? Are the video screens too "large"? Aside from the video screens, there isn't much set, does it not seem like it would be easy to pickup and move from city to city?
