We are going and wonder if anyone else is.
First show we will have seen the first preview & the last show. Wonder why Carolee could do all perormances in a demanding role but other like Elene Rogers need someone to play matinees.

I'll be there, and Mr. Roxy it's Scandalous not Scandelous.
Of interesting coincidence: Scandalous shares its closing date with the opening night date of Dance of the Vampires!

Just returned from the last show.
The show was almost unchanged from the first preview. It looks like something was cut from the Samson number & the lame effect of the Red Sea parting was gone. Many people (including me & Mrs R) feel the show got a raw deal & deserved a better fate.
Speaking of humility, it is hard to put yourself in someone else shoes. She put many years of her life into this and because a few people did not like it it closes. None of these people probably have any idea how hard it is to write a show(good or not) & yet they sit in judgment. Many a good show has closed due to the critics. This is one of them and will not be the last.
Carolee gave her all and she was given a standing ovation at the end of the opening number. I think Kathie Lee was humble. At the first preview she came in very spirited and looking like she was on top of the world. Today she snuck in after the lights went down. Oddly, she did not join the cast on stage for the curtain call.Hopefully, the show will get a few nods at Tony time especially for Carmellos performance.
By the way, passed by The Anarchist & Winger was out today. I wonder if she has bailed out of the final week.

Posted: 12/9/12 at 8:07pmNow THAT'S news! Winger missing performances. If indeed she does not play the final week, that will be heavily reported. Can't say that I blame her as I feel she was screwed by all involved. I realize she's a big girl and can take care of herself, but I think she didn't realize how much the odds were stacked against her on this production. I wonder if she'll ever appear on Broadway again...

This is not Winger's first theatre appearance. She hasn't done much, but she's done plays before. She didn't consented to any interviews after opening night, I'm curious...
Would love to b a fly on the wall to see how she and Patti get along...

I was at SCANDALOUS today as well. Boy, what a lackluster show. The performers gave it their all, but there was no way this could ever be considered a good show. Carolee Carmello was amazing, what a performance she gave! (Although, those of us in the balcony did not give her a standing ovation until the final curtain call). I cannot recall another ensemble musical where the star is on stage almost 100% of the time. IIRC, the only time she's offstage for more than a few minutes is the scene in the soup kitchen between Emma Jo and Minnie.
There were no speeches at the final curtain. In fact, once the curtain came down, it stayed down.

I was there too and the show was just as long, boring and misguided at the final as it was at the first preview. Several cuts were made: the car was cut, George Hearn's act two song was cut, a scene with Carolee and some townswomen after she gave birth to her son was cut and a night club scene in Hollywood was cut. Even with all these cuts the show felt LONGER and still ran 2:40.
Carolee tried her best, but you can't give a passenger on the Titanic a can of putty and expect them to keep it afloat. Despite running for a month of previews no real changes were made. This one was a true turd. Isherwood was right- no (or little) camp to be found here. Just a hum drum affair that will be forgotten by tomorrow morning.

Posted: 12/9/12 at 10:07pmCarolee was amazing as always, belting as much as she did in two other performances I was able to see. Andrea McCardle was sitting two rows behind us and was gushing about Carolee as well. Kathie Lee was visibly sad throughout but did say "God bless you and thank you to coming!" to us when we said hello to her.
