I've already gotten over the fact that I (chances are) won't be seeing Karen Olivo and Cody Green.
Given the track record of this cast, should I expect for the remaining leads to take the 3 p.m. matinee off in favor of the added Actor's Fund perf. that night?
Then again, I wouldn't be too disappointed. It's not there's a star in the cast.
I saw the show last night and all of the major leads were in (Matt, Josefina, Karen, Cody, George, Curtis).
For sure Jerome Robbins' presence and any stage direction...
Karen (though she still missed a couple last week) and Cody have been back. Both of them were sick for a while.
Someone on ATC said Laurents has made it known that he is not happy with the absences, so we'll see how that changes things.

I saw WSS on the day of the Tony's, so alot of the backup cast went on and it was still a great show... you won't be disappointed. Have fun!
I was there last week and everyone was in with the exception of Curtis Holbrook.

It don't think it will matter if any of the regular cast members aren't in; saw it twice last month, once without Karen (and I believe Cody) and their understudies were quite good!
Yankee, it looks like we're in the same boat. I'm seeing the Sunday matinee too, and I'll be mighty surprised if Olivo and Green are in (especially with, as you said, the added Actors Fund Performance that night).
I do think Scaglione will be in, as July 19 is her last performance before a two week vacation (according to broadwayunderstudies.com, which says Haley Carlucci will be Maria from July 21-August 2).

I don't quite see where the need to cast aspersions on this cast comes from.
The bottom line is, even with Karen gone, the grosses didn't change one bit, and it seems to me she is the only one, with her TONY win, who MIGHT be able to pull shenanigans. The rest of the cast are ultimately just grunts, and if they were REALLY pulling funny stuff, seems to me they would just be fired.
I saw the matinee 7/11 and all leads were in. Yes, there were five names on the understudy board. Manuel Santos looks to be Chino for some time (Joey is still wearing that brace), so that automatically makes two understudies. There was another for Officer Krupke, and another for boy soprano (are people really going to bag on 10 year old boys?).
The bottom line is, even with Karen gone, the grosses didn't change one bit,
My problem was more with her understudy being atrocious.
Laurents has made it known that he is not happy with the absences
Uh-oh. I've seen this movie, and I know how it ends...
He actually does need to something about it. Even though I love Karen, it is kind of annoying for her to be out all the time.

Pal Joey, shouldn't this go in the horror movies thread?
I believe Joey Haro is back in as Chino as of this week.
There was no understudy for Chino last night.
We seem to generally have a similar taste in shows, yankee, so I have to say that if Karen is out, you're going to be very disappointed. For me, she made the so-so production really worth my time. Well, her and Josefina. But mostly Karen.
Enjoy though! I'm sure the cast is doing all they can to attend as many shows as they can handle. Especially since Laurents is pissed about the plethora of absences.

I am entirely unfamiliar with WEST SIDE STORY (except for the tunes that everyone knows). Gonna be an adventure.
Has anyone seen Haley Carlucci go on? How is she? I will be seeing West Side Story August 1. Though I am a bit disappointed I will be missing Josefina, I am listening to Haley's performance from the At This Performance concert and she seems pretty great.
Oops! Double post
I saw Haley. Her singing is good, but her acting could of been stronger.
Well maybe she will get better with each performance, and be great by the 1st.
