My favorites have all been mentioned, but I really love the sets of Aida, Wicked and Fiddler.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

this may be a dumb question but what did they do different between the Broadway and tour sets of Titanic? I only saw the tour.

The topic is "sets you ENJOY" not "Your FAV. set(s)"

I have 3 main ones that I loved:
1. WICKED- I LOVED how they incorperated the dragon clock stage with the show.

2. RENT- its one set, with diff. areas, used multiple times for diff. places, and draws you to focus on the story, meanings, characters, and everything else

3. Gypsy(w/ Bernie)- I thought the set was VERY appropreate. Since it is about a stge mother, and the back was the back stage( or something like that) I thought it was a very good choice!

"I've always secretly longed for an actress to get to the top of the cherry picker and projectile vomit all over the guards below."- Wonderwaiter in the "Defy Gravity?" thread. ~~~~~~~~My dream? Sutton Foster as Cassie in A Chorus Line

The Producers. Maybe it's just because I got to tour this set that makes me like it or maybe it's the hilarious old "ads" in Bialystock's office...or maybe i'm just an old sentimental fool...

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad

Rent's is so under appreciated. People look at it and say "Ew, it's just brick", but it's so beautiful. Wicked, though, holds the spot for my all time favorite set.

Well, considering I'm currently on a RENT and Cary Shields high (Just came back from a full Saturday at NYC... and saw RENT, obviously), I'd have to say that set is greatly underappreciated.

I love how it's intentionally ghetto, heh.

Avenue Q's is just awesome.

I have always loved the sets in Beauty and the Beast. Also enjoy the Avenue Q set -- the buildings there are extremely realistic.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

The Boris Aronson sets for Fiddler, Company, Follies and A Little Night Music told you what the show was about just as much as the book, lyrics and music.

There is a coffee table book about his sets with a text by Frank Rich. It's worth hunting down.

Sunset Blvd....(not the tour) was one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen on stage. Very ornate and detailed. If I think of sets, that's the one show that made my jaw drop.

I'm a set junkie... I loved Sunset Boulevard, Showboat (Revival), Aida had gorgeous use of color, but that was mainly aided by the stunning lighting... Take Me Out was very cool.
