I just thought of another one that should be re-recorded. As stated on the "Which Joseph Recording?" thread, I wish that the wonderful Sam Harris got to record "Joseph...Dreamcoat". He was excellent in the touring production. I know they probably didn't do it because at the time, there were three English language recordings of that production in print (the Donovan/Hately London cast, the Donny Osmond Canadian cast, and the Michael Damian Los Angeles cast) (and not to mention that I think the Laurie Beechman original cast and the 1973 studio recording was also in print), but hey, someone put up the money to record the recent Patrick Cassidy/Amy Adams tour, so why not? I wouldn't even mind if they just used the same backing tracks from one of those three versions.
I also think it's a shame that (even though it's my sister's and my favorite recording of "Joseph...") they milked the Jason Donovan recording so much. Decca released the remastered version (from Polydor), and then they re-released it again with only one Lee Mead (new reality show chosen Joseph) track and the horrendous new song for the Pharoah. I'm sure that they probably could have recorded a new album instead, but this one is not a big a loss in my book as the Sam Harris one.
Xanadu! Can't cry on cue!
