Shows that were better when they transferred

Im curious what show people preferred the transfer over the original cast/show. Ie a show that opened first in the west end or Broadway and transferred to the other side of the pond.

Is it just me or was the original Evita on Broadway a much better cast and production on Broadway than the original West End.

Sister Act on Broadway was much better than the West End Version.

I don’t know personally but as an usher at SIX, I’ve heard from patrons more than once that they loved the London version and the actresses there but the Broadway cast is even better.

I think that the cast that opened the show on the West End was perfect for Six. I see a lot of similarities in the Broadway performances with the West End.

I,too,prefer the Broadway Evita,especially the cast album. I wore it out and had to buy a new one!

Remember there are probably times changes are made during the transfer to deal with differenced between the US and UK.  For example, the "Song" part of "Song and Dance" changed significantly- the London version was more a Brit's view of living in New York.  The New York version was more "true to New York".  Some of it fixed errors in expressions- originally it was "He's doing some deal/up in Baltimore now" Of course, to New Yorkers Baltimore was "down" so it was changed to "He's doing some deal/DOWN in Baltimore now."  Similarly, "Every man and beast/comes from out east"  [sung while the main character is in LA] was switched to "Every man and beast/comes from BACK east."
