The Lion King! I didn't hate it, but it was the first time I was ever actually bored during a show! After the opening number it was all down hill for me.

To start with: Cats, Les Miz, Phantom...all boring and overrated (and sleep inducing)
Next: Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Aida, etc., etc. ...big holes where the musical should've been
Finally: Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages...junk

To BwayTday: Sorry for being to vague...I just meant that these shows had a lot of flash but no real substance beyond the physical production (I should've said that in the first place).

Rent. It has a few good songs but the ending is just weird.

Rent.
Spring Awakening - I like the music, but I just don't think the show as a whole is that great to gain so much obsession.

In the Heights.
I mean, I enjoyed it, but I didn't understand why everyone thought it was the best thing to hit Broadway in ages. (I did see the night after seeing Billy Elliot, however).
Wicked.
I'm not alone here. I gushed over the technical aspects but it's second act was a complete disappointment.

Spring Awakening - surreal to me, it was good and a ****ty at the same time... just flawed I guess.
Les Mis - Ok story line, good music but it's nothing great. Why it is running STILL on London is beyond me... I should see so my opinion is fair. I'm an idiot :P lol

Sunday in the Park With George (I'm trying...cut me some slack.)
Kiss Me Kate
Rock of Ages
Billy Elliot
And above all, RENT!!! I have a friend who said to me yesterday, "You don't even know how amazing Rent is. Gypsy and West Side Story should bow at Rent's feet." It made me want to slap her, and the worst part is that nothing I can say will change her mind. It's frustrating.

Cats.
I saw it 7 or 8 years ago, and I still don't get it.

Maybe it's just me, and that I'm trying to be too literal, but it seems to me that the thread is about "shows that you don't get," not "shows you don't like," or "shows you want to dump on" or even "shows you don't get why they have endured/are popular/ever were written."
I'm not a huge fan of many shows, but I "get" them. I really love some shows, but still fail to "get" the message. In this amazing forum we have to discuss and debate the artistic merits of our favorite plays and musicals, why do we constantly miss the point and act like ignorant boobs?
