Hello to you all! First of all let me say thanks so much for all of the great suggestions!! You're making my great job a whole lot easier! I've had good momentum for a few weeks, but do I need your help with this week's show. Last semester I did a show with the theme "on the wrong side of the law" featuring songs about rogues, thieves, con men, murderers etc. Now I want to do the flip, so:
THIS WEEK'S THEME: On the Right Side of the Law, songs about cops, detectives, judges--anything to do with law and order.
CURRENT PLAYLIST: --Theme from City of Angels --The Man Inside The Clues or Don't Break the Rules from Catch Me If You Can --Stars from Les Miserables --My Darlin' Eileen from Wonderful Town --something from Baker Street, not sure what yet --When the Foeman Bears His Steel from Pirates of Penzance --Here Come the Mounties from Rose Marie --Is it a Crime? from Bells Are Ringing --Don't Be A Do-Badder from Robin & the Seven Hoods --When You're Good to Mama from Chicago --Coffee Shop Nights from Curtains --Trial Before Pilate from Jesus Christ Superstar --The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha --The Policeman's Ball from Miss Liberty --Falcon In the Dive from The Scarlet Pimpernel
Some of these are a stretch, and I know I've forgotten something. Any suggestions?
Maybe you can have a part where the right side goes wrong lol: Heaven's Light/Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame maybe? Javert's Suicide from Les Miserables
"Morning of the Dragon" from Miss Saigon "Sue Me" from Guys and Dolls "Auto-da-Fe" from Candide "Don't Break the Rules" Catch Me If You Can "No Good Deed" from Wicked "March of the Witch Hunters" from Wicked "He Did It" from Curtains "The Highest Judge of All" from Carousel
explain how almost every musical has a number early in act one where a lead (usually while sitting on a tree stump) sings to the audience what they want, giving motivation to their character and a reason why you shelled out all that money.
They're often the second or third song, but not always

I've considered doing an "I Want" show, but as you can see that's so numerous, so broad that it doesn't make for one themed show. BUT I appreciate your enthusiasm! :)
THIS WEEK'S THEME: songs having to do with athletics, from Damn Yankees to the Ascott Gavotte--note not simply sports but athletics--runners, polo players, cyclists, etc. NOT dancers, only bc I've done dance based shows before.
I have some ideas, but I want to hear what you come up with! So go to it! I should say that I SADLY cannot play "What A Game" bc of the racial slurs and cursing.
