I think that Rodney Hicks would be an awesome Donkey. he is so versatile and he can be VERY funny.

John Goodman would be a great idea for Shrek. I've wanted to see him in a Broadway musical for a long time. The man can sing! And I think he's a terrific actor.

I just wonder with all of the money he's made in tv and film if it would be worth it to him to go through the drama you know is going to come with that role, regarding makeup and costumes and such! Might be fun for a month.

Okay. I was just watching Shrek 2 in my last period class. As I was watching I was thinking about Megan Hilty and how I was excited to hear her in the 3rd movie. Then I it hit me. Megan can totally be Fiona. What a coincidence to find this thread my next class. *shrugg*

This will sound totally wrong, but Megan kinda looks like the ogre Fiona. But I'm not saying she looks ugly. I think Megan is one of the most gorgeous women on earth and I love her to death. She could be human and orgre Fiona easily. And you don't even have to consider her voice. Duh. No problem. She's perfect! Perfect I tell ya!

I would advise Shuler Hensley to avoid a role like Shrek given his recent roles, although his was the first name to come to mind. I thought Brian D'Arcy James or Dan Fogler could be Shrek. Rachel York as Fiona?

Shuler Hensley is probably playing the Monster in Young Frankenstein.

Dan Fogler and Kevin Chamberlin both have auditioned for Shrek.

They want a rock singer type Shrek. What they are really looking for is a Jack Black type. Or Meat Loaf when he did Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Neither Fogler nor Chamberlin auditioned. Their names came up in Reidel's article where he mentioned that they were front runners. I think the creative team may have reached out to them but Chamberlin has a tv series and Fogler has lots of upcoming film projects. Neither can commit to a long Broadway contract.
Fogler would be perfect. If you've ever heard him sing with his rock band Second Rate, you know he has the voice quality they want.
He would also bring depth to the character.
