What do you guys think? It has been talked about for months, but now official.
I'm glad the show will have life on tour. And I hope it comes to the NJ/PA area, so I can see this.
Too bad they didn't have Ringwald replace Christina on Broadway for a few months, it would've given her nice practice for the tour. Oh well. Atleast the show is still alive.

You know the tour was actually planned before it opened on Broadway - here in San Francisco we all got adverts with Marissa Tomei in the lead and the tour was scrapped.
Molly will be great. She's PERFECT for the role.

I love Molly Ringwald, but I've never heard her sing. Is she any good?

She is good. I worked with her in Sacramento doing community theater when we were kids. She is a lot of fun!
I don't want this to sound terrible but it will... i hope she loses a few pounds before the tour, unless she is gonna wear the corset she wore during cabaret!
Makes much more sense than Britney, that's for sure.

I truly believe she'll be able to pull this off. Break a leg, Molly!
Atleast Charity will be back to a redhead!!
You KNOW I will be there to see it, lijay!
and MEF, why is Ringwald perfect for the role, but you hated Applegate? As far as I know, Ringwald has no singing or dancing experience past Applegate's.
Sounds like great casting. And being nowhere near NYC, I'm all for great casting on tours.
I too am excited.
I think she'll be wonderful.
I hope it does come to the NJ/PA area.

Can she dance?
(I guess that's an impertinent question because dancing in a Fosse show is no longer required).
You worked her, huh?
Just Me-
I didn't hate Applegate. I didn't like her, but I didn't hate her.
Per Ringwald, I thought she was wonderful in CABARET. She actually has a really good voice and dances well enough. Plus, I think she'll act the hell out of the part.
I still want to know why Molly Ringwald is instantly accepted here in the role of Charity, while some people on this very thread complained about Applegate taking on the role.
It's still a dancing, singing and acting role. What changed your mind?
Because Ringwald has proven she has the chops to do it.
And so has Christina...
Thanks MEF!

It might be that Ringwald had/has proven herself with her turn in Cabaret and Tick,Tick, Boom. Until Charity Applegate was an unknown in the theater. Personally - I love Applegate - but that's just me.
Yes I agree that Christina has proven herself. But no one knew if she could do it before they saw her.
The reason people are accepting Ringwald so quickly is because she's already established herself as someone who can handle a role like this.
no..I'm just me.

Lol! I know I thought that as I hit the post button!
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't recall Ringwald ever doing Fosse dancing. Was her singing in Cabaret that good? I never heard her or saw the show with her. I know she can act.
insert "but there's no choreography in this version of Sweet Charity" joke here.

Where doers it say this is a tour?
Her singing was really good in CABARET and in TICK TICK BOOM. She belted the hell out of "Come to Your Senses" from the latter show.
