Great question, Thesbijean. This article appears to be discussing a production to be mounted by the American Musical Theatre of San Jose, not a tour.

Playbill.com says it's a tour.

And I know the Weisslers have been planning a tour for a while.

I can't wait to see it in San Jose. I remember someone PMing me last spring that the tour would be in the Bay Area in Spring 2006, and I didn't believe it. I wish I could remember who that was and thank them now!

I saw her on my local news this morning.. she was promotong MILK of all things and some new MILK website... HOWEVER.. she mentioned she was doing the tour and is training for it right now. She looked great!

Actually, Molly butchered Come to Your Senses when I saw her in Tick, Tick, Boom. (Now Amy Spanger...there's someone who would probably make a good Charity. Michael C. Hall would probably make a good Oscar, for that matter. Maybe the Weisslers will pair them as replacements for the tour, like they did in Chicago!)

Molly sounded somewhat better in Cabaret, but I thought her singing was still very hit or miss.

Anything at American Musical Theater of San Jose is a tour. They do not do their own productions but house Bus and Trucks.

I've still yet to see a good reason why posters are so accepting of Ringwald, when they lambasted Applegate for daring to take on the same role.

well justme2 your concerns were addressed in two different posts by two different BWW members.

you seem to have an issue with Ringwald being so immediately accepted in this role. you should feel vindicated that Applegate proved (some) of the naysayers wrong and gave a respectable (to some anyway) performance in the show.

you should learn to let things go...it's not going to change anything.

I hated her in Cabaret, but I dunno....I think she'll actually make a good Charity if she doesn't put in such a cold and calculated performance.

First of all, since when is Broadway "practice" for a tour?

Secondly, Ringwald has been performing as a singer since she was a preschooler. Her father is a professional jazz musician and she used to sing and record with him.

I never said Broadway IS practice for a tour.

But obviously it would've been good practice for her if she played for a couple months on Broadway before sending her out all over the country in the role. I should say "experience" - that sounds better than practice.

I can deal. I can definitely deal. She definitely doesn't have a "gorgeous" voice, but there's a lot of power behind it and she definitely has a decent belt.

I'm definitely interested to hear how she'll handle "I'm The Bravest Individual" (duet & reprise.) and "Where Am I Going?"

Because having a powerful singer in this role - they can blow those songs out of the water if they can and choose to.

I'm VERY interested on who'll they will cast in the supporting roles.

How I wish you had said that when the Charity Haters were bashing Applegate nightly on these same boards for daring to do the same thing Ringwald is doing.

I'll let it go now; and just watch now. I have no issue whatsoever with Ringwald doing the show, and look forward to her performance in SJ.

cheezedoodle that isnt true, AMTSJ produced/will produce 3 regional productions this season (west side story, gypsy, and the wizard of oz). As of now they have (if sweet charity is a tour) 2 tours booked and one possibly coming..

The show will play Denver Dec. 5th thru the 17th. Looking forward to it. Loved Christina. I hope Molly is as good.
