I’m torn between either Some Like It Hot or & Juliet to see when their tours come to SoCal in the late summer/early fall. I’ve been wanting to see both shows and they look like fun shows. So should I hurry or wait until they hit regional theaters?

Saw Some Like it Hot in SF. Talented cast in a not very good musical. It does not sparkle, does not enchant. does not have the humor or the charm of the movie or the original musical version Sugar. The dancing is standard 20s tap routines and are repetitive. Dance ensemble works very hard and is very polished. The leads work hard, but have little to work with because songs are so generic they could be in any musical and sound all alike. Yes, there are the "sounds like Defying Gravity" power ballads, but they lack distinction and are unmoving no matter how well performed. The woke ending is completely out of character with the 1920s period and seems grafted onto the material and plays like a poor man's Kinky Boots. A talented cast working very hard to put over mediocre material. Many empty seats in SF with lots and lots of discounts. Sugar was actually a better adaptation of this story because Bobby Morse was hysterically funny. Overall, a disappointing experience.

I saw &Juliet on tour with the North American Tour cast at the Kennedy Center (before the terribleness) and they were absolutely fantastic. I wasn't familiar with the material and was a but skeptical of it as a jukebox musical but had a fantastic time.

The main leads were great (Rachel Simone Webb, Teal Wicks, particularly) but even the lesser roles like Lance really won me over.
That being said I'd love to see Some Like it Hot on tour, it's not coming directly to my city (DC) so I have to decide I'm going up to Baltimore.
How much are you paying? I wouldn’t pay more than the price of lottery or rush ticket for either.

I felt like the &Juliet tour experience was pretty close to the Broadway experience. There’s just so much joy and this particular cast is so delightful to watch. Teal Wicks really made the show for me.
I enjoyed the Some Like It Hot tour but it felt like a touring production. The cast was fun but I remember thinking to myself that I definitely did not need to see it again.
But if you can, I would try to watch both!

It’s a little early for me to decide
We of course don't know your financial situation, but single tickets to either on not yet on sale. If you can start setting funds aside now, you might be able to see both. I'd try to see Parade too, which is on sale. The CTG sitexsaysctickets start at $40.25 which us pretty reasonable.
They're both good (I can only speak to the Bway versions) but neither is outstanding or a must see.
SLIH - has a terrific tap/chase scene, a highlight of the show
& Juliet - the better of the two shows, and will take longer to get to regional theaters since it's still on Bway. So MAYBE I give this one the slight edge.
“The woke ending is completely out of character with the 1920s period…”
This stupid-ass complaint again?
The main problem with ‘some like it hot’ in my opinion is the generic sounding score. It sounds like it was written by AI ‘in the style of broadway’.

^ I mean I love Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman’s scoring for Hairspray. It was part of my teen hood soundtrack.
So do I, and even Catch Me If You Can and also Smash. But I do struggle a bit with Some Like it Hot, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory too.

^ I haven’t watched Catch Me If You Can, Charlie or Smash. But I’ll keep that in mind. Also I loved their work on Mary Poppins Returns. Even if it was hard to live up to the Sherman Bros
