"Here's some dish for devout Broadway worshippers: Though Patti LuPone did a reading of the musical version of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown earlier this year, she supposedly turned the actual show down, but now I'm hearing she's having second thoughts about that. Is Patti on the verge of doing an original musical?"

The character's name is Pepa, and she'll be played by Sherie Rene Scott, not LuPone. LuPone would be playing the crazy wife of Pepa's lover, I really wanna know who will be part of the cast, I love the original movie so much and it'd be great to have one of Almodovar's films adapted as a musical.

I would imagine CZJ was asked to audition for Pepa. Her refusing to audition is what led to her being asked to star in ALNM.
