Related but does anyone have a picture of the new Sondheim marquee in London?
Crappy news, and the article says it'll be months before he's up to traveling to London. Get better soon, old friend!
My heart skipped a beat when I read the headline- I mean the man is almost 90, and look what happened to Hal Prince after a minor medical thing.
That being said, Steve is in spectacular spirits based on his statement...told with his usual good humor...and I have no doubt he will recover like the boss he is!
I have no doubt that Sondheim will remain smart as a whip until his dying day. Unfortunately, everybody’s body slows down eventually.
Hopefully he’ll recover before too long. At the very least, it’s good to know that even if his body’s not in the best condition, his spirit is.
My heart skipped a beat too when I read this article. We should all be lighting candles and communing together in Roxbury, just in case! Bring bread from Bantam and pate from the Pantry.
This was the news no one wanted to hear, no matter how slight it was...Sondheim has been such a major part of my life since i saw Company on Broadway in 1970...Please dear man we all wish you a speedy and healthy recovery...your 90ith year awaits you!
love,
a SONDHEIMMANIC such as me...
It's very scary when seniors fall. So many never seem to fully recover.
A friend of mine tripped over his Christmas decorations last week and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. He was in his mid-60s. (Yeah, I know: serves him right for leaving his decorations up after New Year's.)

The article says a few months.
He doesn't sound as alarmed by this as some of the comments here do!

I’m so sorry for your loss.
