There are tons of musical theater songs about being rejected, unrequited love, etc... But are there any songs about being the one doing the rejecting?
"Get Out and Stay Out" from 9 to 5 and "I Dismiss You" from The Pirate Queen. Oddly, Stephanie J. Block sings both.
Also, "Serious" and "So Much Better" from Legally Blonde, "Letterbomb," American Idiot," "Goodnight and Thank You," Evita, "Could I Leave You?" Follies, "The Stuff (Reprise)" from Reefer Madness, The Movie Musical, and "No More," See What I Wanna See.

One of my favorites...Goodbye Emil from Romance/Romance.
And one that's about both, rejecting and being rejected...You Want to be My Friend? from Closer Than Ever.
"Forget About The Boy"
Be On Your Own - Nine
Not technically a rejection, but this one set it up rather beautifully - "I Don't Know What I'd Do" from A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder.
"I Won't Send Roses" from Mack and Mabel
"If You Hadn't But You Did" from "Two On the Aisle".
About "IF"
heard somewhere that Kristin invited Comden and Green to come to the recording session and they came.
A very witty and funny song that I guess had been pretty much forgotten or ignored before Cheno recorded it and probably has now again been forgotten or ignored.
"So Done Being in Love With You" from First Date is a great modern one!

"So Anyway" from Next to Normal. Not a flat out rejection, but an intentional separation. And just an amazing song overall.

Carol Channing once told me that "So Long Dearie" is the greatest "F*ck You " song ever written.
Yup, she used that word!

Hell No! from The Color Purple
The classic Broadway rejection song: "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of my Hair" from South Pacific
Here is something disturbing - almost all of these songs are sung by women. To men. Who they later get back together with.

Oh wow... I hope that only says something about the formula of musicals and not about women /relationships in society... but probably both!
