I could listen to Christmas Lullaby from "Songs For A New World" until I fell asleep.

Very interesting topic.
This past summer was the worst summer of my life and I was getting horrible nightmares because of what had taken place and was suffering from insomnia. The ONLY thing that could help me calm down enough was the one and only Raúl Esparza singing Petrified. I literally played it over and over and it would finally get me to a point where I was calm enough to fall asleep.
Now I enjoy falling asleep listening to Michael Ball's version of Hushabye Mountain. Oh please let there be an OBC recording of Raul singing that song!
I was on a long car ride and I was listening to Seasons of Love on repeat and fell asleep to that and felt so good when I woke up. All peaceful and happy which is unusual for me after a looong car ride.
Julie singing "Stay Awake" from Mary Poppins.
Private Conversation from Side Show (I love Emily's voice on this track) and Somebody from Amour, sung by my beloved.
I always fall asleep listening to a cast album, I put one on right before I go to bed.
But there are some that work better than others. (I defy anyone to try to sleep to LORELEI or ANKLES AWAY).
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is great when I have insomnia. AMOUR is a frequent choice. Lately I've been listening to operetta when I go to sleep -- THE NEW MOON or SONG OF NORWAY.
I like Tick Tick...boom or rent and Taboo. if it is really low i can just listen and then drift off into broadway dream land
Taboo, who's that in your avatar?

A Little Night Music is a good one! The other day I accidentaly fell asleep listening to Suset Boulevard. I woke up to the sound of Patti LuPone belting! It was a bit scary.
That's funny, Cryshanthemum!!
I always try to find a really string-heavy show to fall asleep to -- it's very disconcerting to be awakened by bleating trumpets at 1:00 a.m.
"Taboo, who's that in your avatar?"
I know, I know! That's Cheyenne Jackson. What a sweetie!
To answer the question of the thread, either Michael Crawford singing "The Music Of The Night" or Michael Ball singing "Hush-A-Bye Mountain."

Hush-A -Bye mountain...I forgot about that song..that sond used to make me cry when I was little...I don't know why...
But to fall asleep the telegraph/marry me medley from Titanic the Musical...(I forget the name!)....it's the only song today that can make me cry.
La Boheme. The music is very soothing, and it calms me down. Since I don't understand the lyrics, I'm not working to concentrate on anything.
I tend to get into the songs and story when I listen to anything I really love, so it doesn't help me sleep. Once in a while I can put in Les Miserables and sing through the whole thing, hoping that task alone will wear me out until I fall sleep.
I fall asleep to Last 5 Years. I love it SO much (definitely top 5 cast recordings), and I too, drift off into Broadway Land (what a magical place it is!)

I'm not very good at falling asleep to Broadway. I get caught up in the lyrics or the story, and want to listen instead of sleep. Sometimes Songs For a New World can put me away, but thats about it. I usually need some good rock music to fall asleep to.

I used to fall asleep to La Cage, then The Producers, and now The Frogs. Not that the songs are calming - I just like falling asleep to music. But a song that really calms me down? Wow, uh...I have no idea. Silver Bells (sung by Roger Bart and Gary Beach, of course) puts me in a good, calm mood.
I made my own "Broadway Lullaby" mix CD that i listen to when I'm trying to fall asleep. Some songs on there are:
one song glory (rent)
I dreamed a Dream (les Mis)
a quiet night at home (Bare
christmas lullaby (SFANW)
Nine (Nine)
home (beauty and the beast)
shadowland (lion king)
I'm not a afraid of anything (SFANW)
and 20 other songs
I LOVE Liz Callaway, don't get me wrong. But she puts me to sleep a LOT.
I love falling asleep to her "Infinite Joy" or "New Words" or "Sailing" or "Simple".
But I also love waking up to her "Meadowlark"!
"No One is Alone" sung by Bernadette Peters.
I have a hard time falling asleep to Broadway music as well, but if I am, I usually put on some Jason Robert Brown or Mandy Patinkin, Breeze off the River from Full Monty, or Lily's Eyes from Secret Garden.
For REAL sleeping pleasure, it's all about the Lord of the Rings soundtrack!

I'm with you DestinoyBeckoned. When I get in bed I'll usually tern on Les Mis, Charlie Brown, Wicked or something and listen to it as I get sleepy, but always slap it off because I can't actually fall asleep. I love listening to the lyrics, laughing, reminiscing etc., and I get so into it that I can't fall asleep I do recall falling asleep to Charlie Brown once, but other than that, I sleep with silence

When I'm riding in the car, listening to my Phantom CD, which is usually, and it's been a long day, Music of the Night always puts me to sleep...
Then I'm awoken by Carlotta's Italian shreiking...
Also, Sarah Brightman's Dust in the Wind. I just feel like I'm in a good center of gravity when I hear it.
