Has Jonathan Groff missed any performances? I haven't heard of any understudies going on for him yet.

He hasn't missed yet. If he takes a vacation his understudy, Matt, will know a month in advance. The fans have been asking Matt Doyle at the stage door if he will be going on anytime soon and he said no so far. Updated On: 5/10/07 at 11:09 PM
I love this show, it makes me so happy and sad at the same time. My friend saw it for the first time tonight and she called me gushing. I think this musical will find a nice healthy run in it's near future.
Lauren feel tonight and is supposedly going to the Emergency Room according to Skylar. She gets hurt a lot. I feel bad for her. Updated On: 5/11/07 at 12:00 AM
Oh no! I hope she is okay. I am bringing my sister to NYC to see SA on Saturday and Lauren is her favorite. Please post updates as to how she is doing and if she is in tomorrow, if anyone knows! Thanks, best to Lauren!!!

Just passed by Groff on the street a bit ago... I wanted to say congrats, but I was bouncing a long, humming and singing to himself, and in his owsn world. You can tell he is happy to be nominated. Of course, if could also be that he just heard about Falwell.. what a wonderful day all around!
I just got back from the Duncan Sheik concert. He sang "Don't Do Sadness" with Lauren Pritchard, and he and Lauren and this other performer named Holly Brooke sang "Touch Me". Holly Brooke also sang "Mama Who Bore Me".
Michael Riedel was in the audience, so he must really love SPRING AWAKENING. Steven Sater was also there.

Holly Brook?! Wow, that excites me greatly. She is such an amazing performer! What were your thoughts on her version of 'Touch Me' and 'Mama Who Bore Me'?
Holly's version was very Joni Mitchell-esque. She has a gorgeous voice, and her approach to "Mama" was much more modern than Lea's. But it was definitely cool to hear it from another perspective. The audience was *cheering* for Lauren Pritchard when she came out. It was so cool. My only disappointment about the concert was that Duncan didn't sing "Barely Breathing" -- which is like his signature song. But he was amazing nonetheless.

is it better to see the show first on-stage or from the orchestra?
It is gonna be my first time to see it and I want my first screening to be very special...and also to experience the stage seating at the same time.
I was wondering if it's better to see it from orchestra first because the on-stage seats are "limited-view' and the dynamics of sound are different from both locations.
I like this show from the lower mezzanine; from there you can take in the whole show. They even have lights up into the seating. Amazing! You can not see them from the orchestra.
If you are pretty sure you are gong to see it more than once, then I would see it from the orchestra (or mezzanine, see above). The whole thing is clearer and you can sit back and enjoy the show more without the excitement of fear of being on stage.
No "barely breathing"??? I guess we got lucky when he performed in Princeton, NJ! He said he usually never plays that song live anymore...but did it anyway as part of his encore.
I loved Holly Brooke btw, she did all the female parts in Princeton since it was not a dark night for SA....she did a great job on Blue Wind.
I was at the mall the other day with my friends, and there was a dress that looked very much like the one Wendla wears. I tried it on and took pictures and almost got kicked out of the store. I was tempted to buy, but I didn't.
Congratulations to Bill T. Jones for winning an Obie Award for Outstanding Choreography for his work on SPRING AWAKENING!

Right on. I'm glad Bill T. Jones is getting the love he deserves.
And although already mentioned in another thread, congratulations to Groff for his Theatre World Award! Other people that would have been awarded had Peter Felichia not been on the committee: Lauren Pritchard, Skylar Astin.
I don't know if this has been posted on the board in its own thread yet, but this is a great video from the Drama Desk Nominees Reception -- Raul Esparza goes on and on about how much he loves SPRING AWAKENING! And that makes me love Raul all the more! Role Reversal
