He hasn't gone on in a role yet but sings in the ensemble in the stage seats.
So do they now have five ensemble people in the the stage seats, instead of four? Or do the guys rotate or something?

I VERY much want to see Robi Hager [as Melchior...] but Kudos to Jon Groff for showing up all the time.
I'm sure Robi would love to go on for Jon....being the big bruiser that I am, I told Robi that I could "take care of" JG for him...you know, just a little "injury" to keep him out of a few shows. You'll be happy to hear that Robi declined my offer. LOL

My first time seeing the show at the O'Neill was in onstage seats.. sitting next to Robi. Having no Playbill, I had no idea who he was. I jumped about 5 feet when he jumped up and started singing at me that first time.
Hahaha. At least young Robi has morals. IT DOES make me look more forward to Jonny Groff taking a vacation this summer... I will want stage seating at least one when Robi is on!

I was under the impression that if Jon Groff ever does miss, Matt Doyle will be the first understudy/basically the only one who will go on, but I could be wrong...

That is what I have been thinking as well.

HAHA...my favorite new thing is to watch the on-stage audience when the on-stage ensemble starts singing. Some try not to notice, some look REALLY confused and/or scared LOL.
Robi is such a cutie, and a sweet guy.
POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW
It's really cool...the on-stage ensemble actually have fake tickets, they are shown to their seats by the ushers, etc.

Yes, Robi is a adorable and a total sweetheart. he is actually one of the few people in the show I have talked to reallyu. I also had the unplanned pleasure of seeing his first time going on in a speaking role in the show - Ernst... it was great to see.
Early in previews, the ensemble wandered on from the wings. I caught the others, but not Robi. They changed it part way through previews to have them wander on with the audience.
Anybody knows if John Gallager has been covered any day and by whom, or who is his understudy?

Gallagher still has perfect attendence I believe. His understudies are Brian Scott Johnson and Gerrard Cannonico. Three more different people to play the same role in the show could never be found.
Thanks for telling.
Yeah, very different indeed
I thought Brian was no more understuding Gallagher
So, does any of them being out for Moritz yet?
I think Skylar would be a great Melchior. I wish he covered him.
Hey, Broadwayguy2. I don't mean to be rude, but I believe Brian's full name is Brian Charles Johnson. :)

I dedicate his song Totally F*CKed (from the new innovative musical, Spring Awakening)
to our men and women in the US Military :P

I've listened to Totally F*CKed a thousand times, and never realized how closely the lyrics align with the situation our troops are in-
thanks for the new insight, Antonijan.
SA- a whole new meaning every day!
so...in the musical...what's the context? I know it's gonna be a spoiler but it's okay and I really would like to see it in bway in the summer!

!!!!!!SPOILER!!!!!!
In the show, the song comes after Moritz's death. The "guide to sex" Moritz asked Melchior to write for him is found, and the headmaster accuses Melchior of contributing to his friend's suicide. He asks Melchior to confess- before he answers, he sings Totally F*CKed.
SA is an amazing show- you'll love it.

You're most welcome. Let us know what you think of the SF show on Wednesday!
the comparison to our troops is pretty unnerving.
I just saw Duncan Sheik perform the opening night of his concert tour in SF and he was amazing.
He performed songs from his previous works and 3 songs from SA....Mama Who Bore Me, Touch Me and I Don't do Sadness.
He brought a string quartet and the keyboardist and female vocalist Haley who also opened for him.
For the cities that DS will be performing at, check his official website or his myspace
Is anyone else here going to Duncan's concert in the city on Tuesday, May 15th?

So a song came onto my ipod a couple of days ago and I had no clue what it was and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Turns out it was The Song of Purple Summer. Loves it. I really need to see this show.
I know. That was a glaring omission. But the way I see it -- if it were a trade off, I'd take any of the above 10 nominations over Lighting Design. The Tony folks will get it right, though. But really, the ones above are the biggies.
