Just wanted to discuss Stephanie Hsu, Karen in The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical and Christine in Be More Chill, and how remarkable she is. I just saw Everything Everywhere All at Once and was astounded by her performance. Has anyone else seen the movie and can attest to this? I hope she comes back to Broadway in a major leading role. She deserves the recognition.

I agree she delivers a fantastic performance in the film. The film is positively blowing up in the film-sphere – it’s currently the highest rated movie on Letterboxd of all time. The movie is still comparatively niche (as the box office numbers indicate), but I think it’ll be a big stepping stone for her career in film. She’s also on Mrs. Maisel, which is all the better for visibility, though she doesn’t quite shine the way she did in EEAAO.

I agree, I’d like to see her take on a role that allows her to display her acting chops, rather than her side character in Spongebob, and the “everyone is a loud and obnoxious cartoon teenager” overlay that Stephen Brackett implemented on her and her costars in BMC.

This movie was brilliant and the cast was outstanding, including Stephanie Hsu. I’d love to see her get more/better roles on Broadway, but Hollywood might steal her away for a bit.

She's wonderful in it –– and I didn't realize it was her until the credits, which was a bonus surprise. She never made a huge impression on me in her stage work, but this fit her like a glove.

Went into the film totally blind other than knowing Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis were in it. Absolutely mind blowing experience. My mouth was agape for most of Part 1 due to the sheer gall of what this movie even attempts (and succeeds!) at. I also cried and I literally NEVER cry at movies. Just go to the theaters immediately!

Apparently the Joy role was originally supposed to go to Awkwafina. Not sure I love that choice, because Steph Hsu really made it her own and left such an impression on me. I’d only seen her in Be More Chill and she is practically unrecognizable in this due to the two pieces being on polar opposite ends of the spectrum. What an insanely versatile actress. Her star is on the rise.

I loved this movie so much. Definitely one of the best films of the year as others have said. Hsu is fantastic though it is Michelle Yeoh who I am so thrilled for getting a role like this. She's incredible.
