Has anyone else heard this rumor? It was on Broadway reddit…I need this to be true! Lol

I have always heard from agents that Carell has no interest in doing Broadway/live theatre. But people can always change their mind.
This would certainly be a big get for LCT.
Rainn Wilson, however, has worked on stage and has been attached to other projects that didn’t pan out. And I think might be bigger at the box office than people expect.

Nahh -- his name is meaningless. People don't tend to pay $150+ to see actors they can watch for 8 hours a day in syndication.
John Krasinski though...

Carrell would be rather inspired casting!
Rainn Wilson would be really interesting, too - I know he's done a lot of shows at The Guthrie in my neck of the woods, so him coming back to the stage would be somewhat of an event.

The mainstream masses have no idea who Rain Wilson is. Dwight Schrute from THE OFFICE they’ll know instantly. Heck, even when he did a few episodes as Allison Janney’s therapist on MOM, my friends called him “the guy from THE OFFICE.” Steve Carrell has established himself in a handful of Oscar nominated feature films - he himself having an Oscar nomination.

Well, maybe your mom doesn't know his name, but it doesn't mean anyone else doesn't. His name is surely known to much bigger crowds comparing to any famous theater actors who are only popular in theater circles and nowhere else. Those cult sitcoms produced stars that have huge fanbase. Suggesting Rainn Wilson's casting would be meaningless is laughable.

John Krasinski did a play at the Public years ago that sold pretty well, in fact I think the entire run was sold out (Claire Danes and Hank Azaria were also in it)

Ok stay with me here. Imagine if:
Steve Carrell as Vanya
John Krasinksi as Astrov
Jenna Fisher as Sonya
Ellie Kemper as Yelena
Creed Bratton as the professor
Rainn Wilson as Telegin

Count me in the camp of people who think Rainn Wilson’s name would not be a big ticket seller, as much as I enjoy him.
But to return to topic, I’d be interested to see Carell on stage.

This is the only The Office reboot that should be allowed

This reads like a summer stock production from hell!
fwiw, here's the link to the original rumor.
There are always a lot of false rumors surrounding LCT shows around these parts so we should take with a tiny grain of salt...Danny Burstein opening MFL as Dolittle, Matthew Rhys in Camelot, etc.

Let's not forget Colin Firth and Anne Hathaway in My Fair Lady

Yeah they don't tend to celebrity casting, correct? But maybe this will help drum up ticket sales and add some excitement back to them.

But imagine if we'd gotten that casting. WHEW! Still wish we'd gotten Anne's Bobbie in Company, but alas.
