With Birdie being pushed back again, will they finally do The Music Man they were discussing before? With NPH, Seth Macfarlane, or Hugh? Lol. I would love Oklahoma for the 75th Anniversary or Fiddler, Little Shop, etc.

I can someone doing She Loves Me at some point. There's a fantastic built in Christmas plot (and song) and it's a really heart warming story. Not for next couple years tho, the Roundabout production is still too fresh and too perfect.

What about some of the other classics like Cinderella, A Chorus Line (still hoping for a movie remake with Sutton Foster helmed by Sherman Palladino), Company, hell even Mamma Mia (could you imagine the cast they can pull for this? I know it won't happen cos movie etc etc but still).

I rather see Music Man with Neil Patrick Harris or Santino Fontana reuniting with Laura Osnes as Marion. If it's going to be Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, cast a newcomer in the title role and Heather Headley or Audra McDonald as Fairy Godmother.

I definitely think Cinderella would have potential to both be great and a legitimate success. It's a familiar title made to work on television with a lot of great casting opportunities and tons of built-in nostalgia from the previous 3 television versions and countless stage productions.

I also would love to see Hello Dolly, preferably with Bette. I wonder what the rights situation is there. She Loves Me proved that they could live stream a live Broadway musical beautifully, so they could just save a lot of trouble and do that.

I agree with Cinderella. It seems like the safest choice right now, and I could see it being lots of fun if they play their cards right.

I'm so tired of these Live specials having to be feel good musicals.

Cinderella? We have THREE tv versions of this that are all accessible to be watched. We gotta move on.

This is gonna get stale if they keep doing bland with no dark content musicals.

Or move it up to Halloween and do Little Shop or Bat Boy.

Musical Theatre deserves better than being relegated to feeling like PG Community Theatre at a church. You get incredible gifted people, give them something to DO and ACT.

Okay, here's one.

Do A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and cast like a bunch of Judd Apatow actors.

Done.

Because Jesus Christ Superstar is such a fluffy, feel-good musical!

Yes, let’s air Parade two weeks before Christmas! That’ll be a ratings bonanza!

I'd love to see "Pajama Game". The 2006 revival was entertaining, and I think it would transfer well to television - with the right cast to pull in ratings. Maybe Neil Patrick Harris as Sid? Anne Hathaway as 'Babe'? Rosie O'Donnell as Mabel?

rattleNwoolypenguin - apart from Jesus Christ Superstar, we did also get Rocky Horror and Grease. Neither of those are "feel good". Grease to me is a very heavy show with some slapstick romance but I find it a very heavy story. Rocky Horror is as non-feel good as it gets.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Pajama Game are both great suggestions too.

Rocky Horror was not Live...and also it was a travesty. Let's never speak of it again.

I liked the idea of "Little Shop" on Halloween, especially if you could get Jake Gyllenhaal and Taran Killam again...

As if anywhere near the size audience The Sound of Music had is gonna tune in for THE PAJAMA GAME. Or FORUM. Plus the latter is pretty bawdy for the Bible Belt audience that make these hits.

The problem is there just aren't many shows that can make this kind of thing feasible. And they did the two biggest already. You can only do so many that aren't great or aren't ratings booms before the big wigs and audiences get bored with it. Lord knows I have been for years at this point.

And GREASE, a heavy story??????? In what universe!

Forum is out of the question (In today's world If I even repeated a few of the lines here I would probably be permanently banned from this board). 2 years ago I voted for The Pajama Game and I vote for it again now. Although this being for TV there will obviously be much tweaking involved (50's Man/Woman stuff). As for Bye Bye Birdie at this point It should be clear that Jennifer Lopez has no interest in doing live TV.
