The fact that some of Nick Adams' critics choose to attack him personally says a lot about the detractors themselves. Nick Adams is a nice person who has a healthy body and is a talented artist. Some can't reconcile themselves to those facts, so they go personal. Not surprising.. but very sad. from RC in Austin, Texas
Yes, Nick has a healthy body ... I don't know the man personally, so don't know if he's a nice person or not, but that has nothing to do with his performances. I have never seen him in anything that I couldn't think of lots of other people who would have been better than him. I just don't think he's all that talented, and don't find him likeable on stage. And he's WAY to bulky to play a convincing drag queen.
Sounds like someone's got a fancrush on him and doesn't like it when others don't go gaga over him.

This is the same guy who just called Kevin Kline "ok." Clearly Mr Klein isn't as talented or "healthy" as Mr Adams.
ugh.

Agreed.

everyone who is having a problem with Nick Adams being to bulky for the role then you all need to go back and watch the film and how bulky Guy Pearce was. I think it's great that he got the part. Way to go Nick!!!!!!! I hope you rock the part.

I think he is a talented, hard working young man. I saw him in LaCage and thought he was so funny. I think he will be terrific in PRISCILLA. And is very deserving of this opportunity, IMO. Break a leg Nick! And no FANCRUSH here.
I thought the whole point about Adam in PRISCILLA is that his style of drag is meant to be confronting and cutting edge, the complete opposite of "traditional" feminine drag. He's a rebel and a troublemaker who tries to shake up the conventions of drag by using his buff physicality as part of his Felicia persona. Bernadette loathes him because she comes from the old days when glamour and femininity were the hallmarks of female impersonation, and Felicia thinks Bernadette's style of "tits and feathers" is corny and old hat. As pretty as Oliver Thornton is in the London production his performance is way too effeminate to really make sense of the role. He actually appears to be modelling himself on Bernadette rather than rebelling against her. Nick Adams has the perfect look so it will be interesting to see if he brings a bit of danger to the part.

Wildcat: I agree. That is why I think Nick could really shine in this role.
Question...3rd role in drag?
La Cage, Priscilla, whats the third?
I am happy to put all the Nick-bashing behind us and celebrate him creating a new leading role. I think his physicality is perfect for this role. Wildcat summed it up nicely. Break a leg, Nick! can't wait to see you on Halloween in Toronto!!! :)

"I'm curious about something. When does the rehearsal process begin for "Priscilla", more or less?"
=======================================
Rehearsals begin August 23rd.

Not sure if I think Nick was the right choice, but I was watching Holly's World on E! and saw Josh Strickland preparing to audition for Priscilla, presumably for this part. I was just thinking he would have been great in the role.
