Forgive me if this has already been addressed elsewhere, but I am too lazy to look, not even gonna lie! I want to get tix to CAT and I know Terrence Howard is taking a leave of absence. Originally it was stated he'd be out until May 23. Now it say's he'll be back May 6. Does anyone have the "IN" as to which is true? Thanks!
*looks for you*

Don't hold your breath. Rumor has it that he hates doing the show and there's contradictory information on whether or not he actually signed on for the extension (I believe Sunday was the original last performance).

They have on the website that his(TH)last performance is April 13 and that he will return on May 6. So, based on what you've alluded to...if a person wants to see Terrence Howard in the production, he/she better try to get there by this coming Sunday rather than waiting until May? Just in case.
I wonder why he supposedly "hates" doing this show. Is it because it actually requires him to act?
From having bought second row center for Wendesday, June 11, I can wholeheartedly attest to wanting to see Terrence's 'Brick' - From what I understand, Boris will ONLY be taking on the role for TH's leave of absence. Terrence WILL be returning to the role at the Broadhurst as of Sunday, May 4, and yes, he WILL be finishing the rest of the run (thru June 22).

Ok. Now I don't know who to believe. I have family planning a week long trip to NYC to see 'CAT' WITH Terrence Howard. Maybe I should tell them to wait until May 4 to buy tickets?

That's exactly right. He has called it "slave work." He is a very unimpressive performer. His Oscar nomination was a fluke.

I would really like to think this is just a rumor gone really bad, but based on Mr. Howard's past and recent interviews...he probably did say something this asinine.

Can't speak for his work onstage, but the film work that I've seen from him is electric. And his nomination was very well-deserved.

Having seen Terrence Howard in Cat, well, you can just as easily sit a wet sponge on the stage and occasionally go over and pour some colored liquid on it and get the same effect.
Honestly, not one of the actors ever made me care about their characters.Totally blew my James Earl Jones fantasy and Rashad... can anyone say "Edith Bunker"???. Now, I can't go see Country Girl because that may blow my Morgan Freeman fantasy....sigh.

theatreislife, did you like listen into a conversation to between my mom and I? She said the EXACT same thing a few weeks ago. Freaky.
We were SO disappointed by everybody except Anika. And now don't want to see The Country Girl for the exact same reason as you.
Why does the water have to be colored?
"There's your proof."
It's proof they wanna sell as many tickets as they can before they announce he has to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts... I mean... maybe not... but... in the live theater biz... doesn't prove much.
Howard is above the title.
If he's not there when you arrive, you can get a refund at the box office, so no need to worry.

Not during his scheduled 5-week absence (which most people in the know don't believe he'll return from), since it was announced in advance. They're already struggling with the absent James Earl Jones, and I daresay if Jones doesn't return and Howard tells them he's not coming back, this show will close in May.
Will Kodjoe stay with the show if Howard doesn't return? He's not exactly a nobody, especially to black audiences.
Has anyone seen the show with Count as Big Daddy how is he? When is james expected back?

I have not seen him in the show either, but would jump at the chance. Terrence is a very talented actor. His Oscar nomination was not a fluke. His body of work speaks for itself. I can't imagine how hard it would be to get onstage every night & have to do the same thing over & over again. I would call it slave work too. It's probably pretty draining.
*If you don't believe in yourself, who will?*
It's not slave work.
It's called a job.
He's not being forced to do it. He's getting paid.

No, he is not being forced to be on Broadway, but it is a new experience as an actor for him. Maybe he was just expressing that it is not his cup of tea. It doesn't mean he cannot act or handle it.
Its like when I'm right I'm right, when I'm wrong I could been right, so I'm still right cause I coulda been wrong, you know, and I'm sorry cause I could be wrong right now, I could be wrong, but if I'm right...

I thought James Earl Jones was only out for a week.
No, KellyO, I don't know.

KellyO: I know you mean no offense and you probably think you're making sense, but for Terrence or you to refer to "acting" on a stage as "slave" work is a tad bit insulting to the millions of people who were and are actually SLAVES.
You're right, I'm sure it is tiring for Terrence to perform, eight shows a week, doing the same lines over and over again. I'm also sure it's tiring for Anika, Phylicia, and not to mention poor James Earl Jones who is almost 40 years older than Terrence, but I'm sure wouldn't refer to being on the stage as "slave work".

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. My only reason for posting was to respond to the comment that was made about Terrence's Oscar nomination being a fluke. Totally disagree with that. Just got side tracked a little I guess.
