Breslin is alost as tall as Pill. That should be interesting!
I'm looking forward to this. A lot.

Well that release doesn't say anything to indicate that Breslin is doing a limited weekly schedule, but I do agree that it could be a mistake to cast a name Helen opposite a no-name Annie Sullivan.
It's Sullivan's show.
Thrilled the show is getting a revival. But on paper, the Hilary Swank revival looked like more appropriate casting.

Who was supposed to play opposite Swank?
Exciting!
This is shaping up to be another big year for plays.
What's with the production notes saying Keller was born blind and deaf? She was neither.

Wasn't it the Pepsi girl who was supposed to star in the Swank production? I'm blanking on her name, she was Cynthia Nixon's daughter in THE WOMEN.
Two great actresses in a great play. I'm excited. Finally something for Breslin to sink her teeth into. I think she is really ready for this. I think she will impress alot of people.

Swank's Helen Keller was Skye McCole Bartusiak who is probably best remembered as the little girl in THE CIDER HOUSE RULES. She actually got wonderful reviews in the production in North Carolina.
She and Swank certainly looked the parts to me (probably more than Pill and Breslin) but its of course the acting that counts.
No, the Pepsi girl (Hallie Kate Eisenberg) was in the 2000 TV version.
I couldn't agree more re the casting. If they wanted a no name as Sullivan (which I admit I'm disappointed about),then they should have cast a no name as Helen. I'm surprised Breslin is making her Broadway debut (and I assume her stage debut) in such a challenging and iconic role,I think she's a marvelous child actress and I really hope she pulls this one off...no movie remake though. And Pill is not a name but I think this performance could make her one. I won't be missing this one.
I LOVE this casting! I can't wait.
That’s (commercially) unfortunate...circle in the square will be available at the beginning of Fall 2010.
I'm looking forward to this as well. I think I saw part of the original film, and the one with Hallie Kate Eisenburg and really enjoyed them.

I'm asleep and not going already!
P
You forget how tiny Patty Duke was when she opened this. And that the extraordinary Patricia Neal played her mother...

Alison Pill is too soft and girlish to play Annie Sullivan. It needs an actress that can put forth a more steely performance. What's next? Anne Hathaway playing Golda Meir?
I just can't stand Abigail Breslin. I think she's overrated and is getting these parts because she's new "it" young girl. If this revival was being mounted four of five years ago, we would've seen Dakota Fanning as Helen. I just really don't think she's a great actress. I hope she proves me wrong.

Wow, I had forgotten Patricia Neal played the mother. I bet Anne Bancroft was sweating bullets because Neal could have nailed the role of Annie Sullivan just as well as Bancroft.

I think Abigail will be great in this, but Allison Pill? Seriously? She may be a great actress, but that's the biggest name they could get? Unfortunately, these days, any straight play on Broadway has to have a little star power or else it doesn't have a great shot.

Please- Helen has ONE LINE. I think Breslin can handle it.
Thats right. One line. And she does nothing else. Its a super easy role.
