The TodayTix rush was a piece of cake yesterday. Tickets were still available until 1/2pm in the afternoon, offering everything from front mezz, rear orch, front orc etc.
Echoing what everyone else has said, the audience was electric and she's a STAR. Not that I expected them to, but I don't think the keys were changed at all for her so it was interesting to watch her navigate the score with a very different voice than KC- a few bum notes at the beginning, but ultimately a success (including a fun bit during the soprano-off with Marie Antoinette). I also wanted to note that Sherie did not do the accent.
Such a privilege being there last night. You can't help but listen to that singular voice and hear Cathy, Amneris etc. Don't stay away too long, Sherie!!
In case anyone wants a sneak peek of Sherie:

I mean this in all the positive ways, but to me Scott brings the "Florida" to the character that Cheno just doesn't have.
Interesting how she didn't knock the ball (finial??) off the banister like normal

Thank you for this! She absolutely nailed those final couple of minutes.
Scott is so damned good, rendering the final number with a gifted actor's clarity, she made me realize how absolutely wrong it is, as a stopping place in this muddled, compromised narrative. Her investment in the circular rumination as a final epiphany, as a personal re-declaration of her I Want, is so persuasively offered, it points up how the show has no real ending. Scott approaches it like Jackie's "Before the Parade Passes By," and finds herself where she started. It's a bum conclusion, and watching Scott try to make the authors' point - that full circle is compelling - is touching indeed. I thought, "If it doesn't work with her, no wonder it doesn't work with the billed star."
And let me add what I noted in the St. James: it's a dreadfully staged theatrical conclusion, repetitive, unsure of how to use that staircase so that every move up or down has specificity and purpose. Why didn't someone noticed that a single ascension has power, but inching up and down looks unfocused. Emblematic of so much: nobody knows what this story is, or how to put it on its feet. Give this woman a show that deserves her.
