Motown is definitely performing. Valisia confirmed it on her "Show People" interview on Broadway.com
HANDS ON A HARDBODY just performed at the Drama Desks, and pretended the grand piano was the truck. They couldn't get away with that at the Tonys, however. They would have to get their truck out of storage and use a projection for the rest. Assembling the cast is not an issue. Money is the issue. Besides, they were not nominated for Best Musical so who knows if they would even be asked to perform.
BRING IT ON and A CHRISTMAS STORY, if they wished to shell out the cash for a performance, would perform. If the cast were available, A CHRISTMAS STORY could easily perform "Ralphie to the Rescue." Or "A Major Award" (hah!) would be great.
If the cast
I boycott the Tonys since last year when they had Danny Burstin perform Buddy's Blues which made NO SENSE out of context, instead of letting the brilliant Teri White do Who's That Woman with all the ladies.
Shame on the Tonys!!
Huh??? The Tonys had nothing to do with that decision. The producers decide which numbers will be performed on the ceremony.

Except the Tony Awards don't decide what each show performs- it's up to the producers. In the case of Follies, the producers probably decided to do that number because it was likely cheaper than having a large group do a big production number.
The Follies Producers just went with the much cheaper option. Since the cast was at the Ahmanson in L.A. it would have been ridiculously expensive to fly all of the women back to New York to perform "Who's That Woman."
The recent Stephanie J. Block and Will Chase video seemed to indicate that Drood would not be preforming at the tony's. Does that usually happen when shows close before the ceremony?
Because in that case 3 out of the 8 nominated musicals (im talking both revival and original) wont be preforming. THat will only leave us with five performances... Sad!
I'd be surprised if BRING IT ON and A CHRISTMAS STORY aren't at least trying to put something together. With ACS' advertising and casting calls, they will definitely benefit from a performance. What number they do might depend on if they can get a kids' ensemble together. If they can't, I'd argue they should invite John Bolton (arguably the brightest spot of the main cast) to do "A Major Award", which is rehearsable for an adult ensemble behind him. ACS will be a staple of Regional theatres for years to come, all the exposure they can get should be money in the bank.
Lin-Manuel Miranda was tweeting the morning of the nominations about a BRING IT ON performance, though thoroughly tongue in cheek (and hilariously so), so it's at least known to be on their minds. I imagine the money would be there to promote their tour (and album, and eventual performance rights.)
Roundabout has never ponied up money for a closed performance, so DROOD not performing is (sadly) to be expected.
Annie is doing some with Jane I know for a fact.

When Big River was up for a Tony they showed a wonderful montage. I am guessing they'll do the same for Drood.
A montage wouldn't be anywhere as good as a live performance, but i guess that would be better than nothing.

It always makes me a little blue when I see how many Tony performances are from "new" shows that are no longer running. I can remember when everything featured on the Tonys was something to look forward to seeing in New York.
A Christmas Story will be back, but still... Nowadays, it feels like by the time the Tonys arrive, too many shows are gone.

That was a really bad year. That was the year the Tony Committee felt the musicals were soooo bad that they nixed giving three major awards entirely (Best Actor/Actress and Choreographer).
I think, as viewers, we were lucky to get the montage.
I believe the Big River comment was referring to the revival, produced by Roundabout and Deaf West, which had closed before the Tony Awards. Daniel Jenkins and Ron Richardson performed Muddy Water and River in the Rain at the 1985 Tony Awards.

At the stage door for Matilda wednesday, a few actors confirmed that they would be doing a medley, but did not specify which songs.

Taylor Louderman confirmed on her Facebook fan page this morning that Bring It On would perform.
Gettin the squad all back together for a Tony's Rendezvous! It's All Happening...

Probably, the same old Naughty, Revolting Children -_-

You know, I think they should have done what they did for Best Musical Revivial in 2011, and just do Kinky Boots and Matilda for nominations. Bring It On, I'm taking, was doomed from the start and I heard bad reviews about it and A Christmas Story is a HOLIDAY show, so how did that happen? These 2 other shows are huge blockbuster hits and are still running.
Wait, are you saying that a show that has closed (regardless of why) shouldn't be eligible for nominations? Poppycosh!
Yes, some shows close because they aren't very good. However, it has more to do with attracting an audience and very little to do with quality. MANY a show has been wonderful and unable to entice people to see it. It the not too distant past, The Scottsboro Boys and Passing Strange spring to mind. Hands on Hardbody had many here singing its praises, too.
Or are you saying that they shouldn't be performing? Also balderdash. Why shouldn't they? They will likely be regional performances of all of these, so why not get potential producers/directors interested?
I hope "A Christmas Story" does something. They are supposedly coming back to Broadway (YAY!!!) for the holiday season. (I'm guessing the St. James or Marquis.)
I'm guessing "Pippin" will indeed do "Magic to Do" perhaps as a medley with either "Corner of the Sky" or "Morning Glow" to highlight the title character a bit. (I'd like them to open the broadcast with "Magic to Do".)
I kind of hope "Matilda" highlights Carvel (since he was one of the few positives I took from the show). I'm guessing they'll do "Smell of Rebellion" into "When I Grow Up" or some other number featuring the kids.
I think Cinderella will do "Impossible" into "Ten Minutes Ago".
"Bring It On" deciding to perform is a really smart move-they should translate very well on TV (truth be told, I had a lot of fun at the show) and they will likely do "It's All Happening". (I love the opening song, I must say, but this features more of the choreography.)
I'm guessing "Annie" will do "Little Girls" "It's a Hard Knock Life" and "Tomorrow". I'd love to be proven wrong and see "I Don't Need Anything But You" in there as I'm a huge Warlow fan. (And that song is a favorite.)
Bring It On performed "Cross the Line" to promote the show on America's Got Talent last year. I can see them repeating that if they decide to perform.

dramamama611-Yeah, I was saying that shows that are closed shouldn't be nominated. Plus, I'm also surprised that BIO got nominated because it did closed a long time ago, so I thought it would be forgotten to big producers by now
Thud.
Ridiculous.
