Posted: 6/6/13 at 11:43am'A Christmas Story' and 'Bring it On' aren't playing right now yet they will be performing. It stinks that 'Drood' won't be performing. In 2009, Stockard Channing did a brief performance of 'Pal Joey' and in 2010 Christiane Noll did a short performance of 'Ragtime'. I wish 'Drood' could've done something like that.

In addition to the four new musical nominees, plus Motown & the three revivals(Pippin, Annie & Cinderella). The following shows will be performing on Tony night: Chicago; Jersey Boys; Newsies; Once; Mamma Mia!; Rock of Ages; Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark; The Lion King; and The Phantom of the Opera.
I have to wonder if these shows will only be in the opening number(I hope so).
Casts of Christmas Story, Annie, Bring It On, Cinderella, Matilda, Motown, Kinky Boots, Pippin and More Will Perform on Tonys

It's all but confirmed for "Magic To Do." In the following video she won't say what the song is but she mentions that the song is very inviting and that the fourth wall will be broken.

Looks like ANNIE is at least doing part of "Hard Knock Life."

Posted: 6/6/13 at 5:46pmI know nothing about Pippin, was the original not circus themed? If so how was it "done"?
TONY Award Performances#83
Posted: 6/6/13 at 5:55pmIt was more like a Greek commedia dell'arte troupe, so I've read.
TONY Award Performances#84
Posted: 6/6/13 at 5:57pmIt was done pretty similarly with the circus elements in this production substituting the original's use of magic, commedia, and overall Fosse-ness.
TONY Award Performances#85
Posted: 6/6/13 at 6:38pmThere were a traveling troupe of itinerant players in the original, much like the troupes moving through medieval villages performing passion plays and moving on to the next village.

To (somewhat) answer ucjrdude902's question, here's the original cast of Pippin on the 1973 Tony Awards, also perfoming "Magic To Do":

Posted: 6/7/13 at 1:41pmJudging by their other pictures, it looks like CINDERELLA is doing "Impossible" into either "Ten Minutes Ago" and/or The Waltz.

Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:25pmThe TONYS seem to be bringing their A game with this years telecast.

Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:32pmLooks like MATILDA may be performing "Revolting Children"...I see desks in this photo: http://instagram.com/p/aRI2ykKoKS/

Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:41pmIs it me or does Matilda perform "RC" anytime anywhere they are on tv or promotions?
TONY Award Performances#95
Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:46pmWell, it's certainly the most "commercial" and arguably the most entertaining and energetic song in the show. So I'm not surprised.
TONY Award Performances#96
Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:55pmNot like it matters, but why is almost every musical besides Wicked performing?
TONY Award Performances#97
Posted: 6/7/13 at 2:58pmProbably because it costs a ton of money and they didn't feel like they needed the publicity.
TONY Award Performances#98
Posted: 6/7/13 at 3:01pmDing ding. Wicked doesn't need publicity. They could take down every Billboard in NYC and still run for another 5+ years.
TONY Award Performances#99
Posted: 6/7/13 at 3:01pmI thought the same thing. WICKED has money coming out of its ears...spending money on a Tony performance is chump change. The other shows performing don't need to spend money on the publicity either. It's not like LION KING, NEWSIES, and JERSEY BOYS need any more exposure.
