NewsiesForever said: "I feel that Tuck Everlasting is going to be this year's "Honeymoon in Vegas". The critics for the most part praised it, but it is not endearing itself to the public with the mostly negative audience reaction. No two Broadway fans are like, what one loves, the other despises, so on this show and many more to come we are never going to come to a unanimous agreement. But I have to say given the overwhelming poor feedback I am reading from this thread and the other Tuck Everlasting thread, I think I will pass on this show when I go to New York later this year.

If you actually mean what you wrote, you WOULD go see Tuck when you come to NYC because you will have a completely different experience than some of the other patrons on this board...True you may come out of it not liking it, which is fine, but if you stand behind what you posted, I think you should feel intrigued to come and see the show. Honestly, if you are fortunate enough to see any Broadway shows, why use this message board as deciding factor in picking your list....you should feel compelled to go with your gut, especially since "no two Broadway fans are like."

Dramamamma611, I never said the show is boring, because it isn't, all I am saying is that with any new musical, there are moments that bare opportunity to be revisited when the time comes. And I think it is totally strange to call anything on a Broadway stage "children's theatre", since we all know that there is a level of presentation that is unparalleled to any other place in the county.

It's so interesting reading these comments.  I saw Tuck Everlasting in previews and although I didn't think it was perfect, there's a lot to like -- and the ballet at the end is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen onstage.  It came out of the blue -- I loved it on many levels -- one being that it really gave the dancers a moment to truly shine, and I was wondering if the success of "An American In Paris" and "On The Town," two shows with serious ballet dancing, somehow encouraged this show to add such a stunning, wordless interlude into the show.

I spoke to a few children in the audience -- they absolutely LOVED the show -- but no, it's not children's theater, though it is refreshing to have a family-friendly show that doesn't pander to the audience.

If I go back to see this, that ballet will be a big reason why -- so if anyone is coming from out of town to see shows, I'd encourage them to see this.

I think people are so put off from the rest of the show that they don't care how good the ending ballet is. Yes it may be the greatest part of the show, but it doesn't help weigh out all the negative aspects. The ballet at the end just reminds me of Sylvia's death in finding neverland. It's trying to evoke the audience into tearing up which is what we weren't doing the previous two and a half hours.

My wife and I (in our early 60s) saw it last night and really liked it.  We went because my wife is a big Terrence Mann fan, but really did enjoy the show.  I know his one word description of his role in the show is "obnoxious" - good description - lol (he was great, as the was the 11 year old girl, and Carolee has a GREAT voice).....
