I bought this without really listening to it. I heard from some that it has a nice pop/rock score. I saw Show Business and loved the lead guy's voice, so I thought I would pick it up. I still haven't opened it. Is it worth keeping?
For the record, I generally enjoy pop/rock broadway scores.
Yes yes yes. Sample it on iTunes or something if you're not sure, but it's one of the best pop/rock scores of the past decade. The show may have been a mess, but that was not one bit because of the score.
I love it. I've been listening to it a lot recently after having not played it for a long time. I'd forgotten just how good it was. Brought back some great memories.

The performances on that CD are wonderful as is the music. You should definitely keep it.

It is one of my favorite scores. The music is great, I promise!
wonderful, really really underrated score. George actually wrote (almost) all new material for the show and it's (almost) all brilliant.
Check out the OLC, it's my personal favorite of the two recordings. Plus you still get Euan Morton!
this is one of the best if not the best, OBC recordings i ever heard, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of the traditional musical.
Petrified-worth the price of the show. You can see the video on another site~
Absolutely 1000 percent yes! It's one of my absolute favorites.
Make sure you give all the songs a chance. Some of them took a while to grow on me.
I play both the London and Broadway discs quite often, the OBC a little more. I just got the DVD of the London production and it was superb, and very different from what was on Broadway.
And, Sondheim liked it!
Plus......You ALREADY have it! Just open it up and enjoy :)
This thread has inspired me to listen to it. I just put it on.
Wonderful album! One of my faves.
Skip the overEsparzing and I agree the songs and arrangements are wonderful and inspiring.
I love that Love Song between George and the other guy. It's so pretty.
Its fab!
"Skip the overEsparzing"
Oh pluleeeze, "Petrified" is a master class in itself. An amazing job and he stopped the show every night. The album stands alone as great entertainment. The London version has a great song "Touched By The Hand Of Cool" inexpicibly cut in previews for Broadway you might want to download to add to the album. I asked Rosie before they recorded it if "Touched" could be a bonus track, and she said if George wanted it, he could but I guess he chose not to.
I am listening to it at work right now actually. Great score and performances.
I LOVE this show and auditioned for the UK tour and got down to the final few (then got cut grr), its an amazing show which had an uncalled for Broadway makeover. The score is one of the best scores in recent years.
I normally love Raul but was not to keen on his version of Petrified, i thought the UK version was much better.
Where does one get the DVD of the London production? I would love to own it.
Edit: Found it!
It may still be available on Ebay etc, i know that some UK music stores like HMV Still have the dvd, and then the special edition one
Amazon UK has it. I don't do ebay! I will check Dress Circle. Thanks!
The special edition is like gold dust-ive been searching for a fellow poster on here from Australia=still looking!. The normal release is still available in some places but you'll have to look hard. The special edition didnt sell well when it was released so stores reduced the price and then those who really wanted it snapped it up then! At one point it was cheaper than the normal edition.
Ive said it before and i'll say it again-Rosie ruined the perfect show that London had.
The OLC is a mix of different cast members doing the leads thats why theres no cast list with it.
Yeah Dress Circle too (though its normally a bit pricey in there lol)
