Oh man - the performance was excellent. But we were totally robbed!!!
Nicely done cast of Xanadu and long may you play.

Well, let's look on the bright side. The performance at the Tonys was great, they really nailed it and I know some of us were worried after the less than impressive turns on the morning shows lately...
and the show has been running for a year on Broadway. Again, a YEAR on BROADWAY. For a tiny, new musical based on the worst film of all time with no big stars attached, that is a big accomplishment. "Passing Strange" and "Cry-Baby" likely will not last a year.
You'll always be the best musical of 07-08 to me, Xan. Play on.
They were very good, and def robbed out of Best Book !!!
Stew was thrown a bone--- simple as that !!!
Best Musical should have come down to "ITH" or "Xanadu"...not "PS"-
I hope people will still go and support this great show !!!
In Xanadu's favor is the great performance tonight right before the major awards - which means audiences were paying attention. Could lead to ticket sales even without the award

Xanadu was DEFINITELY the best performance of the night along with Gypsy.
Fantastic performance, easily one of the strongest of the night. If they went home empty-handed tonight, we can at least hope that it'll lead to a nice increase in sales tomorrow as people start buying their tickets for the summer!

First time posting on the 'Du Crew thread, so it's a little intimidating, but I have to say - Xanadu absolutely rocked it tonight! Seeing them perform made me even more excited to see the show (just got my tickets for July 2). I thought their performance was the best of the lot (though I did love Sierra's performance as well...so sue me). I was definitely rooting for it to win Best Musical (and for Kerry, too, of course)...and I might've shouted something like "F**K" when In the Heights won.

Xanadu was GREAT tonight!!!!!! And if anyone thinks that the very obvious display of Cheyenne's legs and thighs did any harm to Xanadu's prospects, I beg to differ. But they were all great and, IMO, the highlight of the show. HUZZAH!!!!!!!
Xanadu should have won best musical. The performance tonight was the best performance all night.
Sad to see 'DU not win Best Musical, but that performance was amazing. That and Gypsy were the best.
Hey, if Lily Tomlin can L-M-A-O so can alot of people. =]
I think Craig is right. When I was leaving the Tonys I heard several other audience members talking about how great the Xanadu performance was, how they couldn't believe they hadn't seen it yet, and how they wanted to go see it soon. I think that's a good thing.
Hello Craig: It's always nice to read your comments, being one of our moderators. I'm surprised that Rob never seems to post comments...just shares the weekly grosses for shows. Maybe he's a shy person? Just wondering.... from RC in Austin, Texas

bystheword84--so glad to hear that the post-Tony response was so favorable. Awards or not, "Xanadu" (as well as "In The Heights') did exactly what a Tony performance should do...make you want to see the show.
"Passing Strange" did exactly the opposite and "Cry Baby" was just kind meh. I don't wish ill on anyone, but I have the feeling both of those will be posting closing notices before our little trouper of a show.
why oh why was cheyenne not nominated?
Do you think the song choice had anything to do with shoving that in the leagues faces?
I mean they did a great job and it showcased their talent but I figured that they would do something a little more... catchy, like "I'm Alive" "fool" or "Xanadu"
But either way, I'm not dissapointed, they did an incredible job, and it still is a good number... The only thing I'm dissapointed about is it not winning book which it totally 10000% deserved.

I am a brand new fan of Xanadu! Saw it last week and am totally in love with it! Sorry it didn't win any awards, but it has won me over. Loved the performance last night...

Xanadu definitely had the strongest, most energetic performance of the night. It's really too bad that it didn't win anything... (especially book!). I'm kind of shocked that In the Heights won. Their Tony performance was the only little bit I've seen from the show, and I couldn't even stand it for a few seconds! I guess that style just isn't my cup of tea. I kind of can't believe it appealed that much to the Tony voters, but what can ya do!? It really is a shame that Xanadu didn't get all the Tony love it deserved. Congrats to the cast on a great performance. YES IT... SHOULD HAVE!
They should have won Book without a doubt !!!
I just hope they are able to stay open, especially with Cheyenne out for a while-
Cant wait to see Curtis again !!!
It was an unbelievable performance last night!
I actually went to the show yesterday afternoon with some newbies and they LOVED it!
During infamous ablib she grabbed me and started to shake me saying "IF WE DON'T WIN AN AWARD TONIGHT, I'M GOING TO KILL MYSELF!!!" They audience (and everyone on stage) was rolling!!!
Sadly the 'Du didn't win and thankfully, Jackie is still alive... lol

Just for anyone's reference, when Lily Tomlin made fun of Marisa Tomei, the reference was for all the time Marisa spent on stage prior to the awards practicing her walk to the microphone. We got inside Radio City about 15 minutes after the doors were open, and were wandering around between our seats and the lobby, but we kept seeing Marisa walking back and forth practicing how she would walk to the microphone from backstage for a good 15 minutes or so to get it just right when it's live on TV.
