I loved the new line! I wonder when they changed it.
We were on stage yesterday afternoon too and basically could not agree more with everythingtaboo and obsessedjb.
We took a first timer with us and she absolutley loved everything about the show. It was our first time with Curtis and our second with Patti, and their chemistry was dynamic. It was nice that they were able to play opposite each other in these roles.
everythingtaboo-the nickle bag line killed us. We were like "Wait..." then realized what it was replacing. And then laughed even harder.
Another thing that happened was before "Magic" it looked like there were some bobby pins on the stage and Patti picked them up and chucked them at Kenita, who procuded to look stunned, and then crack up. Thus causing us to crack up too.
It's always a great show to come back to again and again. Just a great time. And it was nice to see the House so full too!
last monday the line was a little different... it was something like "you're very enthusiastic... you must have been on the pep squad in school..." I guess they are trying a couple things to see what works.
I'll see what they use today since I'm going to see Patti go on as Kira :)
i was wondering what patti was picking up (since she was still singing when she bent down on her skates, from my stage seat she was in the corner of my eye, i thought she was falling for a second!) and she flung it so fast ryan and kenita were like, what just happened?! it was too funny.
i'm going back today, jezi, I'll see you there!

I was at yesterday's matinee also -- my 11th time. Curtis' dancing and skating were awesome and the whole thing was just as much as an upper as ever. And Tony's comment about the nickel bag brought down the house. Wonderful, wonderful. HUZZAH!!!
I was thinking about starting a 'At Xanadu Tonight' thread, since fun things seem to happen there every night..but in the meantime, I'll just post here.
I decided to see Xanadu tonight (2nd time). It was a very last minute decision. Curtain was at 7, and I got to the box office at 6:48. I got a great seat using a discount code. It was close. When I was stood up, I was practically on stage..but not too close.
Tonight, there were a group of teenage girls on stage. This one girl was wearing a tiara. I think it was her birthday. Anyway, Jackie Hoffman goes, "Why are you wearing a tiara? What are you, royalty?" I could not stop laughing.
I had such a fun time. Everyone was fantastic. I love Xanadu!
I will be organising a mass rollerskating costumed event in London for anyone interesting/ed. Is it safe to outline yourself in bendylights?

I am thinking of seeing Xanadu when I go to New York in October. The trouble is that it may be hard to convince the people I'm going with to see it. My question is: Who from the current cast will still be there in October/who will have left, etc. Also - when do you think tickets will go up for October? (only till September is up now)
Is there anything I should know about on-stage seating too? Like is there participation or something. I just need to ensure details to pass on and try and convince the others.
Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, the cast is signed until January 2009. Fingers crossed that it runs that long, but it seems to be getting some traction out of its Tony Award showcase.
I've never seen it from anywhere but onstage...audience participation is pretty much restricted to dancing at the end, although depending on where you sit, you may have a cast member (or two or three) nearby and basically everything's going on directly in front of you. The side seating give you better views than the center seating, but it's a blast in any case.
I just saw this show two night ago. ( I just returned home) It was fantastic! I loved it soo so so so much.

Thank you so much for a quick response! I am pleased to hear they are signed on to Jan 2009. Does this include Kerry and Cheyenne? I am sorry that this may be ignorant but I see mention of new names for the leads in some threats but I am just worried is all.
Also - is this "dancing" required. I know some I am going with fear having to do anything but watch the show lol... any details on this is appreciated.
Thanks so much!

The cast members that are signed on til January '09 are Kerry, Cheyenne, Mary, Jackie, and Tony. :)
And the "dancing" is just basically standing up in your onstage seat and waving your glowstick and cast will make faces and smile and wave at you haha. Pretty soon the other audiences members in the house will be on their feet and joining you, its a lot of fun! You won't regret it!

Thank you for the kind words of advice! It is a nice change from having people belittle you in some threads. Anyway - I am very excited to see it and can't wait till the onstage seats come on sale for October (any idea when they will?) What if I am a terrible and awkward dancer though?? lol Is the view really bad by the way? I hear of people seeing it on-stage first time and loving it! I hope to be in the same proverbial boat.
Also - I am going in the 2nd/3rd week of October and I believe BC/EFA is around this time, no? What kind of things does Xanadu offer? I love snagging some BC/EFA goodies. Do they have signed items? Do they have pictures with who etc?
Sorry to spam you guys with questions but yall are so helpful :)

Caught XANADU again on Wednesday. Packed house (not quite sold out but very close!) and great response.
What I loved the most that night was seeing a group of older women sitting on stage having a BALL! This show crosses so many demographics. Love that!
Curtis as Sonny is love. He's so adorable.

It doesn't matter how good or bad a dancer you are. You're basically standing up, swinging your glowstick and if the mood hits you, shaking your butt a little....no pressure whatsover.

I have next to no rhythm and I'm always dancing like a fool at the end of the show... so no worries! The audience will mostly be focused on the cast in front of you... the only way I can see them staring at you is if you don't stand up or move at all. Don't worry, and just have a blast!
PS- Whoopi Goldberg, anyone!?!

Thanks for the comments! I am excited to see the show I am just nervous about the view from on-stage seats.

Don't be nervous...once the show starts, you'll be having too much fun to be nervous. You'll miss facial expressions and stuff directed at the audience, but it's compensated by the fact that you're literally in the middle of everything.
And I agree that staying seated at the end is bad. Even if you do nothing but stand up and remain motionless, stand up.
Took a 1st timer this weekend and Jackie's adlib Saturday night was priceless.
She walked over to a guy and said (paraphrasing) "I've had my eye on you all night and thought you were so cute until about 10 minutes ago when I looked over and you were holding his hand"

Whoopie's going to have to go long and far to keep up with Jackie's ad libs. Wonder if Beale is going to do some rewrites to fit Whoopie's character or will Whoopie be able to carry it off on her own (not questioning Whoopie -- am looking forward to it immensely!. HUZZAH!!!!!
...Beane :)

See, I got so excited that I mispelled both Beane and Whoopi. And I am beside myself with excitement, so don't look at anything I write for the next month or so with a magnifying glass!!!!
just wondering, is kerry out too, i hear she's missing a few performances.
