Telecharge: The Book of Mormon
Great idea for the summer.
I would love to see more shows diversify their schedules like this.
I have no issue with it especially since they won't be having a Wenesday matinee.
You can literally see a West End matinee every day of the week if you wanted. I think it's fabulous if they tried to do that here. Just imagine all the school groups that would come if they new they could do matinees on days other than Wednesdays.

In the Season, Goldman commissions a study and asks Broadway fans if they could attend a show at any time when would they MOST like to go. Friday Matinee was one of the top choices. I think the Wednesday Matinee was second. I'd kill that Tuesday night and keep the matinees.
I really like the idea, and I'll probably utilize it this summer to check out BOOK OF MORMON.

I think the Friday matinee over the summer is quite genius, as is the total absence of a Wednesday matinee. Let's face it, the Wednesday matinee is generally seen as the domain of the blue-hairs, and I would imagine that their marketing is not going to necessarily be targeting that demographic as their primary audience.
Absolutely brilliant idea...perfect for camps also. I would go to many Friday matinees and then out for a nice dinner.
100% Yay! I've never understood why shows don't have a matinee on some day other than Hump Day. While the Wednesday Matinee is a tradition, a show on some other day would have no competition whatsoever. Why hasn't some other show tried this long ago? Or have they? Updated On: 11/17/10 at 05:15 PM
Perfect for camps? I would hope camps aren't dense enough to send children to a musical by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
This is awesome.
I think it's great. Now, when I'm planning weekends in NYC, I'll come in the morning on Friday so I can fit in another show.
hopefully more shows will catch on and change up their schedule slightly.

This is great! It now makes 6-show weekends (crazy as they would be) a possibility.

I wouldn't expect to see any changes in other shows' schedules until the end of the summer, when they can look back and see whether it worked or not.
I also like the 7pm curtain!
total genius move
i was in town at the beginning of September and had a Monday night free where literally there was almost nothing up - with the exception I think of Chicago and Mamma Mia
Would TKTS have to open especially for this if it doesn't sell well enough?
NAY NAY NAY!!!!!
Six shows in three days, you have got to be kidding me. Five show weekends are so painful and exhausting, I can't even imagine what a 6th would be like.
That's really hard on the body and the voice.

I took the six show comment to be about now being able to SEE six shows, as an audience member. Book of Mormon will not have a six show weekend, they will still have a five show weekend (2 Friday, 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday).

No, I meant that I would be able to SEE 6 shows in a weekend...only one of them would be Book of Mormon and it would probably be the Friday matinee. I'm sorry, I should've been clearer.
SM, you're right. I misread the schedule and synthesized the one that had a 2 show Sunday and a two show Friday.
I should change my opinion to a yay. It does let more people see more shows and is actually a far better schedule (at least to me) than a 5 show weekend with the last show on a Sunday night. One of my least favorite work schedules is having a Sunday night show since it makes a Monday day off seem so much shorter.
no teen camp silly.....my son went to a teen camp until 16, there are also CIT groups, they have late nights where the buses come back at 6 pm or so.....this would be the type of show they would bring the 14-17 year olds. Trust me, no Lion King or Little Mermaid for them......Avenue more the speed for teens.
