The Broadway Graveyard
The Broadway Graveyard#1

This thread is a memorial thread for all the shows that were "planned" for Broadway but never seemed to materialize.
"Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots", with a planned book by Aaron Sorkin and music by one of my favorite bands, The Flaming Lips...we barely knew ye.
"The Apprentice", a musical based on Trumpie's hit reality show - I can't say I'm mournin' ya.
"The Wiz", a transfer of Des McAnuff's La Jolla revival...looks like you might get another shot. Say, do you like Ashanti?

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

That is still happening. It's premiering this summer at the O'Neill Theater Center, in fact.

How about "Senator Joe?" The McCarthy musical?
Well, in all fairness, it DID have three or so previews on Broadway-- but it never actually opened.
How about that Princess Bride musical Adam Guettel was supposed to do and decided not to?

The Princess Bride. I still weep genuine tears for the best musical I will never see. ;_;

"Masada,..."
Masada, much rewritten, had a major production in London last year under the title Imagine This.
It raised a lot of highly emotive controversy and is now in the West End graveyard too.

Yeah, I knew about Imagine This (and actually like the CD). I remember when the tryout was announced for Chicago a few years ago and was included in the subscription series, but then it just vanished without a trace.
Oh! I had tickets to Paper Moon on Broadway. I was so upset when it was canceled.
